joeboy 3,193 Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 Gawn - failed to dominate Viney - used ball poorly Oliver - rarely effective disposal Petracca - tried but limited Tomlinson - seemingly without passion Brayshaw - just a game Langdon - had little influence Salem - overrated and slow Harmes - loose and slow Hibberd - good first half Melksham - not team focused Hannan - tried but lacking Rivers - some costly turnovers May - steady and reliable Fritsch - couldn’t get involved McDonald - devoid of effort Lockhart - tried but clumsy Lever - no second efforts Hunt - had limited opportunities Pickett - occasionally looked dangerous Smith - lost in defence vandenBerg - far from ready 2 1 Quote
Bimbo 943 Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 Thank goodness for May being steady and reliable and for Hibbards first half, otherwise we would not have been within 15 goals as I read this 4 2 2 Quote
Queanbeyan Demon 7,053 Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 Gawn - Game-style doesn't suit Viney - Sh?t footy brain Oliver - going backwards fast Petracca - reliably consistently inconsistent Tomlinson - Reject going nowhere Brayshaw - one good season Langdon - not the answer Salem - Pick 9 wasted Harmes - best is ordinary Hibberd - it's been said Melksham - is not Busustow Hannan - Footscray wins trade Rivers - definately worth persisting May - Play him forward Fritsch - good fourth stringer McDonald - Play him back Lockhart - making his way Lever - where's the leadership? Hunt - Goody can't coach Pickett - will play 200 Smith - lost in space vandenBerg - love him but . . . 5 Quote
tiers 2,883 Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 And we lost by only 3 point with more scoring shots, more inside 50s, fewer clangers, more clearances, more hit outs, more contested possessions and more frees. Hate to think what would be said if we lost by double the margin. And what if the last shot a goal had been a bit more to the right. It's not the players, it's the lack of a coherent reliable system. Dock the pay of the coach until he works it out. 1 Quote

dimmy 1,308 Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 Brayshaw : Team needs more minutes of him Lever : Good arm waver. Too big to be a rover/Too light to be big.=> in between Petracca : Class considering tagged. Harmes : Underutilised Tomlinson/LAngford/ Hibberd : Stop Bombing Viney / : Get Ball / Disposal ???? Oliver : Take game on !!! Gawn : Shining light Pickett/Rivers/Lochart : Give them time Mc Donald : Lone big fwd very difficult spot Fritsch : Suffered from poor delivery Quote
dee-tox 4,835 Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 Assessment of May, Rivers and Fritta about the only things I agree with. Brayshaw was our most effective player. Smith did some good things. Viney stood up. 1 Quote

At the break of Gawn 4,515 Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 A bit harsh on Brayshaw, thought he was one of our best and kicked 2. Salem should be everyone’s biggest worry. That jog after the 50 was a disgrace. He should be dominating now yet he’s just an average half backer. He’s gotta be up for trade at this years end you’d think. 5 Quote

Jumping Jack Clennett 1,825 Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 I can’t stand seeing such scathing criticism of Viney. It’s hard to think of any player who does more to give his all for his club. He throws himself in , gets the hard ball from impossible positions, then does his best to move the ball on from congestion. What a gutsy team player! I admire him greatly, and it hurts to see fellow supporters suggesting we should trade him. Keep fighting for us, Jack, you’re a Demon through and through! 8 Quote
Tarax Club 4,199 Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 Joeboy - look on brightside! Gawn - hitouts need re-direction Viney - valiant but flawed Oliver - coal face warrior Petracca - offensive instincts wasted Tomlinson - last chance astray Brayshaw - opportunism has rewards Langdon - ever ready man Salem - kick to win Harmes - midfield best role Hibberd - provided needed physicality Melksham - needs kick up... Hannan - cameo performance today Rivers - second game blues May - punch and judy Fritsch - KFP too small McDonald - building personal momentum Lockhart - kept attacking game Lever - demonland pinup boy Hunt - strangely off kilter Pickett - add killer finish Smith - some positive signs VandenBerg - appeared to fatigue Goodwin - call Roosy now! MFC - melancholy flash cats 2 Quote

WERRIDEE 5,641 Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 I think we played better than what Joeboy thinks. I don't know why all the hatred for Smith Smith was good. Our backline is not the problem it's the forward line. MAY - BLOODY GOOD EFFORT SALEM - UNUSUALLY REALLY QUIET HARMES - BACKLINE IS BEST PETRACCA - CREATED SOME SPARK VINEY - GREAT LAST QUARTER LEVER - DONE THE JOB BRAYSHAW - HIT THE SCOREBOARD GAWN - SHOULD HAVE DOMINATED OLIVER - NOT HIS BEST HIBBERD - GREAT RETURN GAME LANGON - NOT AS PROLIFIC MELKSHAM - ABSOLUTELY BLOODY TERRIBLE HANNAN - PREFER UNFIT BENNELL TOMLINSON - REALLY TRIED HARD VANDENBERG - WAS REALLY INDERDONE RIVERS - SECOND GAME BLUES T.MCDONALD - FINALLY TOOK MARK HUNT - WAS BARELY SIGHTED FRITSCH - CONTINUES POOR SEASON PICKETT - AN EXCITEMENT MACHINE LOCKHART - MUST REALISE TACKLER SMITH - REALLY SOLID GAME It's 1 quarter of football that is really letting us down ATM. We must fix it along with the forward line. 1 Quote
Fanatique Demon 2,764 Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 I might have watched a different game. Kozzy was all buzz with no impact. Smith was ok. Rivers looked lost. Melksham looked disinterested and has forgotten how to chase. Hannan was ok considering how long it is since he has played at this level. And despite the love for Lockhart on this forum, he simply isn't ready. 1 Quote

No one has ever doubted his guts and determiination. Team players create opportunities for others and link play. Vivey does neither very well and has had a golden run of valuable on ball time at the expense of others all the while roving under the best tap ruckman in the league. He should be considered for trade on the same terms as all the other players if this season goes that way it might. Quote
John Demonic 5,988 Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 (edited) Melksham - Dan Butler's position I think a live wire goalsneak would've been more creative around the goals and not wasted all the opportunities Melk did. Why are we playing half forwards deep and trying to turn them into Gary Ablett? Edited June 28, 2020 by John Demonic 1 Quote

La Dee-vina Comedia 17,137 Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 Did I watch the wrong game yesterday? Usually Joeboy's analysis is fairly similar to mine. Sure, there are some differences, but it looks to me like we watched two completely different performances yesterday. 1 Quote
