My wife, who isnt into footy, watched this Irish git at training on the news

She was appalled at his behaviour!

Spitting constantly, spaying the contents of his nose into the air etc etc

Has he not been told how this virus perpetuates?

What a selfish ignorant person risking his team mates .

Essendon says, " it won't let another saga cripple it's season".

What does that really mean?

Has it allowed other sagas to cripple seasons?

Do they give permission for sagas to cripple seasons?

Who the hell do they think they are? Forfeit the points and move on cheats.

On Pert and Bartlett - does everyone expect them to be like Eddie making all the comment in the media? I would expect it to be done privately with HQ and not in public.

Of course they would be discussing every possible scenario with the afl in regard to this. Grandstanding in front of the media like Mcguire

and Kennett would do is not going to help. Not everyone is a show pony

IF the Bombers knew it was a possibility he was infected and still proceeded to have him at training while waiting on results of a secondary test, then they should be forced to forfeit.

Why should we be punished for their mistake?

I would be very happy if Bartlett and Pert both Banged the doors down at AFL House and DEMANDED That we get the 4 points.

This has significantly compromised our preparation for a fired up Geelong and also the notion of having to play a catch up game with a limited break in between means our players are more vulnerable to injury. Bout time we ranted , Can you imagine what Eddie would be like if it were Collingwood in the same position. You made your bed Essendive now bloody well lay in it and Cop your whack

4 POINTS to MFC, percentage calculated on average winning margins across the weekends games. No more No bloody less!

I do not recall hearing anything from either all year. No passion. Guns for hire.

Apparently we asked to play the game on Tuesday night...

...and of course we were knocked back by the AFL.

I would think it was a reasonable request.

I would like to hear a bit more from our club on this whole situation.

Essendon aren't following your advice...........

"ESSENDON chief executive Xavier Campbell is holding out hope the AFL won't force the Bombers to play Carlton on Saturday night if their list is severely compromised."

Deals in smoky rooms disappeared years ago... the battlegrounds are now in the public arena... (think China if you want the best current example of mobilising social media)

Wow I have never seen you so fired up Mr Demonland. Now I suggest you pause take a breath and pour yourself a coffee and relax because

- The AFL are not going to seriousLy punish the bombers.

- Gill believed that the players where badly treated back then, he actually said it.

- This season is 100% about TV ratings and the money generated nothing will stand in the road of that.

- Essendon is a big club with lots of supporters  ( I.e. tv ratings) and media supporters who support them with a constant stream of articles about how badly done by they will be.

- Mean while the MFC is a small club with very little power as we are beholding to the AFL for our financial  survival.

- We have silent leaders, if this was Collingwood Eddie would be screaming the house down and get a result in the pies favour.

As usual we will be the ones who miss out it is not new or will it be the last,   until we are a power club that at a minimum plays finals on a regular basis. Then we will be able to publicly demand things until then we have to accept what is dished up.
RELAX!

I hate Essendon as much as any club. But we could easily find ourselves in the same predicament as the Bombers later in the year and we have already had two players suspended for breaking the isolation rules. So I don't think we should be complaining too much.

This has a good chance to derail their season and at least we didn't play them before McKenna tested positive.

If one of Kozzie or Spargo tested positive after breaking the rules and that meant we couldn't have played Carlton quite frankly I would have no issue with the AFL awarding them the 4 points

they don't get cleared... that is step 1 and is just part of the test and trace.

The big thing is how many go into 2 week isolation....looking like a minimum of 10-12.

If it hits say 16.... they probably can't field a team

The medical advice will offer varying risk alternatives. Interesting which way Gil jumps

A test on Saturday would have been of no value if the first day he exposed teammates to it was the Friday (which is assumed but not confirmed) as it takes 2-3 days to incubate and show up in testable levels. So that would be today at the earliest.

Of course it could happen to the MFC

and i would feel the same way. The opponent is massively disadvantaged through no fault of their own.

I don’t think the AFL have thought of that

It is an afterthought and nothing more

Aside from P.J. this club has been rudderless for decades.

We have been adrift for so long i don't think anyone at the club even remembers how to correctly lower an anchor...

Essendon cannot complain about playing without their backline.

Essendon face the prospect of playing AFL matches with a severely weakened team due to coronavirus, but their situation is not likely to be as dramatic as that faced by FC Rostov in the Russian Premier League last weekend.

Six Rostov players tested positive to COVID-19 as the league restarted following a coronavirus-imposed shutdown, meaning the entire senior team – including reserves and back-up players – had to quarantine. Forty-two players were ruled out, in all.

With Rostov due to play Sochi, league officials offered to cancel the game. But Sochi – battling relegation – refused, insisting that Rostov, who were in fourth place, fulfil the fixture.

Rostov, a port city in the River Don, had little option but to field their under-17 youth team – none of whom were professionals.

The youngsters stunned Russian fans by taking the lead in the first minute with a goal from Roman Romanov – a strike, it might be said, which threatened to have a revolutionary impact.

But their joy was short-lived as Sochi brutally imposed normality on proceedings, eventually going on to win 10-1 – a win that will help their battle against relegation no end.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
