I heard from a friend of mine that Conor visited my friends family on Friday. They are all in isolation now.
a clear intentional breach. What an arrogant fool

NO Seriously?? Flawed if so!

False negatives are incredibly common over the first 3-4 days of infection. After this time the viral load builds up and the test becomes more reliable.

So the campaigner has admitted to breaching restrictions rules even after being warned.

Give us the 4 points and be done with it for ffs.

What a [censored] head.

The 4 points should be ours no if, but’s or maybes.

FFS it’s pretty simple.

Dies nit surprise me He has appeared as a bit if a loose cannon as a person and player

He is also homesick and not a great decision maker obviously.

Deserves 3/4 weeks out.

Sounds like the AFL will apply its MRP impact over act methodology in handing out a penalty, just because McKenna actually caught corona. It's worth keeping in mind for all those sounding off on here that two of our boys went to a house party - arguably far worse than what Conor did. And it's almost certain plenty of other players have breached the rules without being caught.

Indeed

he should get a 2-3 month suspension. Derailed a season single handedly

Can someone please tell me why we don’t play a depleted Essendon next week, not Carlton?

Good point Skuit. As frustrating as the match being postponed due to the EFC and McKenna's poor decision, it could have very easily been Kossi or Spargo contracting the Corona, noting our players likely don't live in the filthy western suburbs.

If anything this is a good reminder to all of us to keep socially distancing and not take anything for granted.

Which is exactly why the league needs to get fair dinkum about it. It has to be forfeit and 4 points to the opposition or there really is no penalty and players will continue to run the risk.

Draw a line right now AFL. If a player breaks the rule and ends up testing positive it's a forfeit for any games over the next 14 days at a minimum, and continue to forfeit if any other players test positive within the 14 days, until the entire team hub is tested clean.

The most important quote in that article is: 'has of course plunged the AFL season into peril again'

Well, no, it hasn't. It's certainly plunged Essendon's season into peril, and no other club, or the competition, should be penalised in any way. Fine Essendon whatever revenue the AFL may have made from the match, and they forfeit until clean. Done.

Clearly players are still running the risk, and the warnings from the league and clubs is not getting through. Let the players manage themselves. Can you imagine a players reception at a club where he's had the team forfeit games? It's the only way to stop it.

And yes, 100% I'd say the same thing if either of our 2 boys that broke the rules tested positive.

Posted

Ironic that the player that wants to play AFL the least out of all players and can’t wait to get out of the country once his contract expires is the first player to test positive.

Easendon supporters ought to be seething with McKenna as they’ll likely lose their next 2 games without Hooker, Hurley and their other defenders.

That's the thing we should play them next week, and push the Geelong game back a week

Reading too much into the wording, but after returning the low-grade result he was tested again and "told" not to train.

So he may have actually trained...I wouldn't be surprised this was being twisted to suit agendas!

Also, if they got the low-grade result on Friday evening, why was he allowed to come to the club on Saturday morning at spend at least 20 minutes there before being told. Ever heard of a telephone and to stay at home to be tested in isolation???

My understanding is there is no such thing as a "low grade positive" test result.

There are "low grade fevers" as a symptom of being infected with a virus etc.

The low grade positive is most likely just Gil speak.

Not sure how much "worse" any of those actions are.

A factor going the other way is that his teammate (Zerk-Thatcher) had already been suspended and, surely, Essendon would have read the riot act to the entire playing group. After that, it's hard to believe another Essendon player broke the rules (I'd be similarly gobsmacked if another Melbourne player stuffs up).

I agree with you that McKenna probably shouldn't be getting a bigger suspension than Zerk-Thatcher, Pickett or Spargo simply because he caught it and they didn't (unless he knew he had it but didn't comply with the rules, in which case season-long ban minimum, I say).

Wow, popped over to bomber blitz.  Biggest crucifixion complex since Jesus.  They want to be let off everything, delist a McKenna, and move games so they play with a full squad.  They are still sore from being drug cheats, too.

(I had to use hand sanitizer on my eyeballs after that....)

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
