I think that nails it. That said I think he still played his role in getting to the space as the defensive winger. He ain’t going nowhere, he’s played a massive role for us this season.

Based on the Gus & Gawny podcast he presents as a major influencer of the field.  You don't trade these sorts of guys out of your team as he sets the standards and makes the difference.  Not everything happens between the first and last sirens

Was matched up on Seedsman throughout the game at times and was comprehensively beaten throughout the day. Seedsmam had 36 disposals and a staggering 749m gained.

Dazzle - he wasn’t on Seedsman. That’s not making excuses. He had a downer but has had some ripper games.

All you have to do is listen to players and coaches talk about his role to know he’s doing what’s asked of him. If that’s not good enough for you then I don’t know what is. Not saying he had a good game on the weekend but there are deeper things than statistics that define whether they’ve done their job.

It's hard to know how well a defensive wing plays because their role means that they are often where the ball ain't. 

He could play his role immaculately, deter every opposition kick and force long kicks down the line .... and you'd have no idea. Sometime the opposition will take the game on through his side and he'll get it 20+ times, and sometimes they'll barely go near him.

That's why pressure acts and tackles don't tell the story for his role, because he could play his role perfectly and be nowhere near the footy for most of the match.

Counting possessions for him is silly because the biggest influence on that will be the style and shape of how the game is played. If he does his job well, the reward will be when we win.

Seedsman played for the team who LOST by 41points. The fact he spent the majority of his game in the front half (lord nev’s maps) says he is a f&@$ seagul to me! Probably a big reason they lost! All me first

The fact when sides look up and have nothing to kick too is because of Brayshaw.  He is often rolling onto Lever's opponent so he can drop off.

Last week before finals coming of 3 wins, no time to change structures that work!

The ball can go the length of the ground with 4 possessions but 36 players can directly or indirectly influence that play. Think about that!

I’ve changed my view on Brayshaw over the last 1-2 seasons. He was trade bait but I think he plays the role no one else wants and is a good off field leader / influencer. He stays in my book.

interestinly he did say he’d move back to Perth post football. I would also think he would request a trade to play at least 2-3 years of footy with his brother.

I watched Seedsmans game quite a bit. He was always the spare (and loose)  man behind the stoppage. We chose not to man him him up. He also spent a lot of time on the outer wing with Langdon. Nearly every bounce he started there..

The top 5 players on the ground for average speed in defence against the Crows were ours and Brayshaw was the number one player on the ground in that category. I think he’s had a marvellous season and has worked his butt off helping the team defend. I feel we try and find faults when they’re really not there sometimes.

both of those heat maps are to the left of screen. If you rotate one so its to the right you will see for the majority of the game Langdon and Seedsman played on the same wing.

I was wondering that not long after I posted it actually! Got confused because the offensive half at 61% is to the right.

Brayshaw plays his role to fill gaps on his wing so that the oppo cannot walk through his side.

He supports the defence and has a knack of intercepting kicks when it counts. The number of possessions he gains is irrelevant to his role. His value to the team as an on field voice is immense. He knows when to wave his arms about to fill gaps.

Both he and Langdon patrol their side of the ground to provide support for the inside mids.

Reinforcing that - in one of Nibbler's interviews for his 100th he talked about the forward pressure and how valuable it was that the midfielders were covering their opponents and closing down any escape options. "Which lets us pressure forwards go to work," I think was how he put it.

You put that together with the number of times Brayshaw has been on the spot to spoil or intercept exactly those relief kicks and you begin to see clearly what is being asked of him and why his disposal count doesn't reflect the value of his game.

Remember how even in 2018 we still had the critical weakness of the rapid breakaway goals against us that just sailed right past our defensive zone? Dealing with that is probably the single greatest difference (among many) that has us now in serious premiership contention.

And I was thinking how confusing the modern game is because players line up on against each other at stoppages and then go in completely different directions and sides of the ground. Fooled us both! 👍

100% - he seems to be one of the personalities of the group (and not in an Ackermanis way).  Teams need those people.

Agree - he was terrible & has been ordinary all year. Gets good PR from his podcasts & is a nice guy which seems to mitigate the criticism he receives but has been a failure as a wing

CF I doubt that he would still be there if he was a failure, we have a strong coaching team and he must be meeting their expectations on a regular basis.
