Nup,sorry. Don't buy this. And why ?. She effectively came in on the very notion of NOT being 'one of the boyz'  .. of being the one to get it done ( it being the new home )

Where are we now..   Well lots of talk, lots of might be ,could be's . Throw in ...it's in development etc. Effectively...at this very moment what do we have... clinically... nothing.  Or as suggested   SFA

N.C. This isn't Moscow .. ( hmm.. maybe Melb ..city...is ) those in positions ARE accountable. We SHOULD be kept up to date. But the club continues to be a secretive boyz club.

Meanwhile other clubs get new digs, get mega$M upgrades.

I actually think Caulfield is a great opportunity and my gut suggests will eventuate. But wht the secret squirrel approach. Yes there are commercial confidences but i can't imagine anything that should preclude meaningful updates.

MFC ..sponsored by Crickets !!    almost ironically appropriate

Didn't she fail in delivering for the Western club in the A-league?

I remember they announced a big plan for their home ground and the results have been... Well underwhelming.

It has been very slow but still slowly moving.

But this was a bit more ambitious as they're trying to build a suburb/residential hub in the midst of it too.

"Essentially, Wyndham Council — the fastest-growing area in Australia — has given a 100-hectare paddock to the Western United team. The sale of the majority of the land to developers, beyond the land used for the stadium, will pay the up-front costs of the venue."

The Regional Football Facility has been built and they train there and the women will play there next season, that holds a few thousand.

The next stage of the project, led by WMG, will deliver a purpose-built, 15,000-capacity football stadium and 800-lot residential community, with WMG recently announcing YourLand Developments and Johnson Controls as major project partners.  (Feb 2024)

One benefit personally is that I bought a property not far away from this.

About 3 or 4 kms, I guess this should increase the value of all residential areas that are close proximity to this new venue.

Where you are correct Beelz is that we should, as members, be getting more updates - even if vague in nature. But that wasn’t your initial statement /argument was it. You said Roffey has “done sfa” - which I still say is a bit unfair.

Correct me... happy for you to.

What has  SHE done ?.. not what have others done and she's watched.  What has SHE done specifically ?

Curious...

Beelz, you know as well as I do that we are not going to know specifically what she’s done without asking her for her timesheets - and I’ll let you ask her for them. Superficially, what we know is that she was in charge when we got out of what could have been a second rate facility at Goshes. We also know that she was in charge when we got into the Caulfield project. Like you, I’d like to know more about the current situation. But without knowing the facts, you cannot say that she has done sfa - and again, superficially, the change from Goshes to Caulfield would appear to be an excellent move, which will hopefully come off.

Well she didn't sack Simon Goodwin like you wanted her to before the 2021 flag - that's about it, but it is something big.

Albo is a neolib, as is his Treasurer. They push this nonsense all the time. Neolibs on both sides of politics have spent years trashing our country. They can get in the bin.

As you were...

Sorry Scomo

They talked about this on the Midweek Tackle last night. Saw it on a TV in the background, something about moving a step closer by the end of finals.

Anyone catch it?

Yeah, saw it. Feasibility study will move to a ‘full on business case assessment’ with an aim to be complete by end of finals. Glenn McFarlane thinks it will get up and ‘it has to get up for Melbourne’ (as they have the worst training facilities in the AFL).

Just more talk and speculation

We have lobbied for additional room at Melbourne Park as the Rebels exit and have been told to get do one. The Storm & Victory will be able to expand their footprint and rightly so given they play out of and train permanently at the facility and aren't actively looking to exit.

I think that’s bit unfair beelz. All of us have no idea really what progress is going on - which I’m sure is due to non- disclosure agreements. And just because you and I are not being kept in the loop, doesn’t mean she is not, as best she can, progressing this option - which as we know is under the control of other organisations.  If Caulfield turns out to be a bust then maybe your comment will have merit, but not yet.

That argument has worn thin. You can guarantee if there was any movement whatsoever they would be spruiking it from the rooftops.

I hope you don't mean the rooftops of the new $60 mil development of Tax Payer Park Dr.

how the hell are geelong getting MORE money for their stadium and facilities???

Elections and Votes

I feel like the whole issue with this is we’ve spent 10+ years trying to get a home base near the MCG, which was always going to be difficult.

I don’t know all the particulars, but I think that was going on well before this board and they seem to be the only ones that have made actually progress, albeit slow progress.

30 years!!! The current mob have had 10years.

Caulfield Racecourse development has to be the primary option.  It ticks many boxes, so can see why MFC are pushing for this. I am always doubtful because of 30+ years of feasibility and potential locations.  However it appears Melbourne Racing Club want the Dees there as a partner in the development.  Time for the board etc to actually show us their value for the club.  Less talk. More action.

Very easy, you need to show a community benefit, you can't just go in with we want money for AFL training base.  Look back at most my posts on this, there needs to be some community benefit.

Geelong will add in indoor netball courts or something.  Kardina Park has a netball outdoor facility, plus the home of AFL barwon umpires.  They will add in upgrade to the umpire facility add inside cricket nets, netball courts.  They are add ons to get the money.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
