School will work with the MFC to help the MFC get what it wants.

There was also a bit about despite the Chairman’s dog walking, the MRC is working closely with the MFC.

Second article saying the project could be finished by 2028 and club has had feasibility approved and has moved to funding stage.

It is happening and hopefully finished in 4 years maybe less.

That is frikn wonderful news.

idea! What price is Red's horse on Saturday?

Late scratching, pulled a shoe off and slight injury. Will run next week at Pakenham.

It's Crown land, MRC don't control it and would have known about this for some time. If they had a major say this would have been stopped some time ago imo. Feasability is done. Is Kanga trying to extract some benefit to appease the MRC so as to gain its support l wonder? Maybe the dog walkers can use the track given its rarely used if he is so concerned ... not

Vacant land, 8km from the CBD isn’t going to stay that way for long. Glen eira council has the least amount of parkland in any Victorian Council. The deal is done. Well done to the MFC for jumping onto this initiative. Kudos to kate and Gary pert

I have always thought that if the Dees can pull off a training base at Caulfield that would be an amazing outcome. Relatively close to the city, near train and tram lines, located in a historic MFC metropolitan recruiting zone (so there actually is a local history and connection there) and consequently already has a strong local following in nearby suburbs.

This will be as important as the 2021 flag in re-establishing the Demons as a real force in footy again.

Should not overlook the marketing possibilities and connection with the other nearby neighbour, Monash University (Caulfield Campus). It is a chance to cultivate potential new supporters amongst international students.

100% agree. I personally think this is better than the MCG precinct as it will enable a stronger community feel in the Glen Eira area. It is also close to a lot of suburbs you would imagine would be desirable for an AFL player to live given their increasing salaries.

Please excuse the pun but it looks like MFC are - “Off To The Races”.😁👍

Yes, indeed. 😎👍🏻

Building a Home Base in the Demons traditional "Homeland" and old recruiting zone makes perfect sense.

It will also benefit the local community in the Glen Eira area.

The big challenge now will be getting the $100-$120 million dollars we need to build the Home Base.

Personally I think the money is the least of the problems. If we get the green light the money will flow like wine

A lot of them seem to live in East Bentleigh, where we are. I always see Melbourne and Collingwood players at the local supermarket and on Mackie Road.

You can’t have a rectangular oval.

The old Western oval was almost rectangular IIRC

  • NON-MFC: Round 02

The compromised AFL fixture will get another test this week with the first lot of teams getting a bye after only two matches. Despite this Round 2 starts off with two cracking games as the Hawks host the Swans at the G on Thursday Night and then on Friday Night the Crows host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREVIEW: Fremantle

The dominant storyline coming out of Round One for Sunday’s clash at Optus Stadium centres on the influence of the big men. The spotlight naturally falls on two elite ruckmen who, five years ago, shared the stage in Melbourne’s memorable premiership triumph.

  • THE STATS FILES: St. Kilda

As part of the effort to trim the runtime of the regular podcast, we’ve been looking at which segments could be reshaped without losing what makes them valuable. One segment that naturally came into focus was Binman’s Stats Files. Not because it isn’t important; quite the opposite. It’s become such a substantial and much-loved part of the show that it deserves a little room to breathe.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.

  • POSTGAME: St. Kilda

Never in doubt!!! In Steven King’s first game at the helm of the Melbourne Football Club, the Dees outlasted Saints in a wild, momentum-swinging thriller at the MCG, running out 13-point winners.
