I am pumped to see the club take chances, admit fault, bring in a fresh perspective and potentially get us back to finals in 2020.  There is no way in hell you would cop the level of criticism and negativity in your role as this club does.  Sometime it feels like a whingefest and sooky la-la session and it's time to look at the glass half full.  Because I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that not if but when we rise back up the ladder all you backstabbers will the first one to start back-patting like the tweed coated MCC do!

How dare anyone invest their time and effort and money supporting the club over many years, and then be disappointed when the team fails to perform at an acceptable standard. Clearly the club would be better off if these people stopped caring and spent their weekends pottering around in the garden instead of worrying about a football team.

The apparent  arrogance  and  smugness of this poster is gobsmacking

he  are entitled  as anyone to his  view  as are we all on Demonland

We absolutely need a diversity of opinion and viewpoint.

What I wanted to point out is that no matter what this club does there seems to be a mentality of if it bleeds it leads within the forum.  I know the club has made errors on and off the field for a very long time but constantly bringing it up doesn't help anyone.  I can already see that no matter who we draft next week the knives will be out instead of celebrating the exciting additions to the MFC.

...but it's ok.

Everyone has differing opinions, we're not all the same.

That's what the forum is for, it's to express those opinions.

Sometimes I think it's like the old days at the pub sitting around with a beer and having a good old argument with your mate about footy.

I like the disagreements, arguments, discussions I have on here with people like 'macca', 'bin', 'wise', 'old', 'lucifer' and the like...

I learn a lot from their points of view even if I don't always agree.

It would be boring if we agreed all the time.

It’s all a bit obvious though, isn’t it?

Some people are positive, some people are negative. Boo to the latter?

I’m struggling to find anything of substance here.

You could have just said “the dude from the dolphins” and you’d have won me over.

Maybe that is a truism.   But is there any evidence that the MFC can't cop criticism?

To be fair, I’m probably reacting more to the sanctimonious outrage by some posters when another poster dares post an opinion which is critical of the MFC

The changes over the off season look promising and I am pleased with the trades so far. Still this is Melbourne and a cynical outlook is kind of a default position for many after 55 years of mostly mediocrity and no success. We have all been here before many times and let down bad.
On the other hand some here are like cult members who believe the world will end on a certain date soon and all the true believers will go to heaven as long as they maintain faith. When it doesn’t happen it’s because they believe too many had not enough faith and foiled salvation for the true believers.

MFC and the Aints are the longest without Premiership glory. Other fans give their clubs more hate than we ever do and they haven't been between premierships for half as long as us. We don't spit on our players for one but nor should we go that far.

I think what everyone here can agree on is we want more mongrel, we want the other clubs to hate us because they fear us.

That's comparable to the outrage posted by some when someone else dares to post an opinion 'excusing' the MFC in some way.

There seems to be a spectrum between those who always find the worst at one end and those who have  rose-coloured glasses at the other.  I think the former are far more common than the latter (which probably reflects the lack of success our club has had since I was a lad).  But I suspect (or hope) most of us are in the middle with a tendency to look for the good rather than the bad if for no other reason than to preserve our sanity.

Very important maintaining Sanity Sue. After all it is only a game isn't it?

I would hate to be someone from the MFC reading this forum and what has been spoken about since the end of the season.

For far too long we have been accused of being a club that sits on it's hands, does nothing aggressive during trade time and gets bent over at the trade table.

Yet since the end of the 2019 '[censored]' season, the club has brought in Richardson, Burgess, Brukner, the dude from the Dolphins, outside run in Tomlinson and Langdon, took a risk on Bennell, invited a semi-proven forward in Mitch Brown to the club, shifted their position in this years' draft considerably for the positive and yet, you STILL have the nerve to bag the club for what they are not doing. Bloody hell!

This post is nuffies of AFL territory.

Taking steps to rectify the mistakes of 2019 is hygiene - it's the very minimum the club SHOULD do.

Until they deliver a premiership (55 years and counting) we've got every right to cast a critical eye over what actions the club are taking.

I want to hated like Hawthorn over the next decade.

This all bodes well for season 2020; Demonland is reaching critical mass!

What a great thread

Hypocrisy everywhere

It's a forum and you can express an opinion, yeah right, absolute bollocks

You can express an opinion and as long as it agrees with a small noisy minority on here you won't get trolled or abused from behind the anonymity of a keyboard

But you can post unfounded rumour as if it was a proven fact

You can also put the same sentiment expressed  in different ways in every thread to bore the [censored] of everybody

You can also disparage any person remotely connected with the MFC, again from behind the anonymity of a keyboard

You will never have the ability to laugh at yourself

This is the truth of a public internet forum

I love my cat but it urinates on the floor and I get annoyed at it....but the mess gets cleaned up and we're all good again.

It's a bit similar to following Melbourne really.

You should try it poita, it's good for both your health and the garden.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
