Dees one of four clubs fined for not keeping ASADA updated on player whereabouts.

Apparently it is the players' fault, not the club. But the club gets the fine.

Players are given an app to updated their location for drug testers.Ā Ā

Awesome, enough playing mr nice guy.Ā

Ā

So the player/s who failed to update their app will beĀ putting their hands into their pockets to pay the fine? I’d hope so

I dont have a problem with this, I also dont have a problem with players forgetting to update their apps (is this how the modern age works)...humans forget, this stuff happens.Ā

It also looks great for the AFL's window dressing of keeping the scourge of drugs out of their industry.Ā

Is this another Kysaiah Pickett thread?

Good God a massive deterrent $5000. The club must be shaking to its core. In previous years that could have sent us into bankruptcy. There needs to be big changes to ensure this doesn't happen again.

The curious bit about this for me is how it happens. I would have thought the "Find My iPhone" feature (which I assume also works similarly for Android phones) just needs to be switched on and the club and ASADA would know where the players are at all times. If that's correct, does this mean players deliberately switch that feature off?

Or maybe I'm just ignorant about how phones work.

Interesting thought. An iphone is always ā€œonā€ when activated.Ā

It'll be more about registering a schedule than tracking live location.Ā

Ie are you in the country staying at home, or on holidays in Bali? Or training camp in queensland? Are you training at casey or gosch this Thursday? Etc.

Rather than "you didn't tell us when you went out to the pub".

I'm sure you are correct, but I also expect that the players would have an app on their phone for this very purpose. And if they don't, they should have (ie, ASADA should administer the obligationĀ in this way).

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's Ā six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.Ā
