We play Adelaide in Alice Springs May 17th I think - hope its a similar result to our last game against them there

I look back on that first game and think that if we'd kicked straight whether a bit of confidence would've seen our season be at least a little better.

Definitely should've won both games.

Imo A win in the first round will be great and unexpected but a loss could be the first nail in goodies coffin (depending on how we lose). 

I really hope we have a mediocre round 2 opponent at the G, if things go south vs WC.

'Just bring it on we will do well l am sure of that . We have picked up 2 quality interstaters that wanted to be at our club and that is a good sign. We have a chance for a great preseason certainly due.

Tmac, Jetta, and a fitter May and Lever also a refreshed Hannan, Vanders and the list goes on  Hopefully we are on our way to a great 2020 season. I am not wishing l am expecting it, the list is there. 

 

 

 

And what is the betting that they will allocate those WA umpires to ru(i)n the match?

The win in Perth in R1 will be the perfect launchpad for our Deenasty. (Not Dee nasty.)

That's a good point. We will be as fresh as we are going to be all season.

If we only play them once then obviously a pity it is in wa. But if we play the twice then good to get it out of the way early.

That said let's hope we get an easier game round two. Imagine the is goodwin the  right coach? thread if we started  0-2!

If the AFL was in charge of the Melbourne Cup, they'd put the most weight on the slowest horses.

If we are serious about the 2020 season then Round 1 against WC has to be a must win. (Yes all games are a must win) but this one creates the foundation. It wouldn't be a test if it was Gold Coast at the G for R1.

Some tidbits here.

Essendon lose Good Friday game. Western Bulldogs will play North.

Hawthorn will play the Eagles on ANZAC day.

Bulldogs get rewarded with multiple Friday night games.

My tip for round 2 is Hawthorn, GWS, GC or Bulldogs at the G rd 2.

Good point. If we do lose a fighting loss will be important.

Our recent record over there is good. Their old geezers will be that much older...ripe for picking. Could be a huge win. At the least I'd expect a massive effort pushing them to the line.

Any other (if scheduled and I don't believe it will be) would be in WA or SA where previous Anzac games have been held.

These days games are 95% attended by the Clubs supporters (MCC members 15/20% more no doubt) so no effect in any way.

Our game is locked in and FTA TV also.

We just need to win 2,3,4,or all of our opening 5 or win 2 in a row prior to get 70,000 plus or even more.

Sorry DJ don't really believe it's a great effect to our Sponsors or finances!

Crowd numbers the same Friday night this game will rate high and any other game (unlikely) will be held after or befit not concurrently.

Do sponsors pay after the ratings are decided? First I have  heard of that 

Sponsorship deals TMK are agreed upon with the Clubs.

Any deals  with Fox or Seven if paid are to them not us Iwould presume snd no effects on MFC finances.

Well summed up but I would add it can be seen as an 8 point game for MFC if they win, given most teams will lose over there.

 

If its a loss just the usual 4 points effect.

Not good.  Every chance we lose the return game from Perth in ROund 2 as well.

Unless we get Harley Bennell, we will win both games then.

GWS will have had four weeks less training, still bringing their many injured players back and still getting up to speed. In theory we should hit the ground running,
