Given it’s officially the crazy season, I’ll put forward that the MFC look for a Croad like return for our prodigal son, Jess “the HULK” Hogan...

maybe not this year... or even next year but then bring him home...

He'd wanna get on the park a bit more next year...

Haha

I'm waiting for the bring back Scully / Trengove & Toumpas threads

Jesse was much loved. It’s a fair call but wildly optimistic.   It will depend on his family and his heart ... and his body.  I worry that he is injury prone and the footy world may not ever see him at his very very best.

Be careful what you wish for...

Oh FFS, just what we need, the constant speculation of his off field behaviour and the go home factor all over again.

‘Basil’ (as he’s known as over here) is loving being back in the west close to family and friends, won’t happen, ever.

I was over in Perth for work about a month ago and spoke to several freo supporters. None of them are very impressed with Hogan. They don’t hold high hopes of him being a consistent performer.

He left us with a navicular problem and it derailed his season.

They are a shocking injury and have ended careers.

He reinjured it as well in the game against us, hopefully he gets it right, hate seeing players careers ruined by injury

With you on this, and I bet theres plenty of other Demon supporters whod love to bring him back 'home' to the MFC.

No idea if its realistic or not and how hes liking being back in Perth but geez it would be nice to get him.

His season so far has been bog ordinary.

I live in Perth now and that is the consensus from the Freo people I speak to. Supporters feel they have been  duped again after McCarthy and brought home another lemon. So far this season he has been very ordinary and I am sure they would be happy to pass the problem child back to us.

It's not Hogan we miss, it's what he does. He ain't coming back whether he wants to or not, but there are a couple of options in the free agent market this year. Needs to be our main focus this offseason.

That's a stupid comment. We don't miss hogan, just everything that he offered, which we haven't looked close to replacing.

Well all I can say is our forward line has been shizen since he left. Draw what cinclusions you want.

In order of preference (for mine anyway), J.Cameron, Casboult, Daniher.

That is a fact, no doubt

Completely stagnated

Cameron would be awesome - will never come to us, probably Collingwood or even Carlton or Essendon.

Daniher and Casboult? No [censored] way!! If the club signed either of those two hacks I would be done.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front.  They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
