Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The AFL’s definition of a tackle is below. I only knew that the initial tackler (as long as the initial tackle falls into the definition of a tackle) is the one one given the stat because I was watching a game one day and there appeared to be many more tackles in it than what the stats stated.

When a player stops an opposition player with possession of the ball from getting his kick or handball away in a legal manner, or reduces the effectiveness of the opposition's disposal. The tackler's action must change the course of play.

Thanks Ethan.

Given that definition, we laid very few tackles this year.

We are however, very good at the one armed, brushed off, attempted tackle.

Handy player with more composure and better skills than ANB, Stretch, JKH etc.

If someone improves your list and can be acquired at value, you look at him.

Welcome back Matsuo. You’re persistent, I’ll give you that.

Where’s Tiger Dan Butler at?

Can confirm Dan Butler is meeting with his management today to discuss his future. If he gets an offer from elsewhere, he might be off.

Now that we’re done looking at Elliot, how about this bloke.

2017: 30.15 from 23 games

2018: 18.10 from 15 games

2019: 5.3 from 7 games

Won’t be shooting the lights out, however would do well in our forward system .

That 2017 year where he was involved in the Tigers premiership tilt kicking 30 odd with 5 or 6 as well during the finals series amongst the likes of Rioli, Caddy and Castagna is pretty decent indicator of his ability. Would certianly come cheap in terms of both $$$ and picks. I don’t think he’s gone that far backwards, simply others like Bolton have gone past him.

Kicked 21 from 15 games this year in the VFL which isn't amazing, however a fresh start could be exactly what he needs to get back into form, much like Sam Lloyd's move to the doggies has rejuvenated his career into an almost 2 goal a game player. Could definitely exceed 25+ goals for a small forward which would really compliment our forward mix which is imo far too reliant on taking marks inside 50 especially given how atrocious our delivery is.

His numbers are pretty average. There arent many decent Goal scoring options available outside of Elliott and Daniher.

We should’ve just kept Garlett.

Unfortunately Jeffy seemed to be on a gradual downward spiral (mentally switching off?) from the moment this came out LT.  And i'm not saying this was the cause but was it another Champion Data lead curse!??...

DEMON IS BEST SMALL FORWARD IN THE COMP: LUFF

Champion Data’s Glenn Luff has used a number of key performance indicators to find the most valuable small forward of the 2017 season thus far, and it is a player that almost no-one would’ve guessed.

While talking on SEN’s Pure Footy, Luff has concluded that Jeff Garlett is the most efficient small forward in the AFL at the moment, using measures such as forward half pressure points, groundball gets inside 50, forced turnovers and average goals scored to make his decision....

I dont exactly see them growing on trees at the moment. Garlett was far too cooked  to persist with, imagine the uproar here if we passed on Elliot, Butler and Gray to keep him?

This is one of our main deficiencies at the MFC, will be extremely disappointed if we don't bring in a ready made small forward.

Dan Butler fits the bill nicely age demographic, stats wise etc.

Get it done MFC.

He’s the right age, but is there much potential improvement in him? Stats-wise, he seems a worse version of Neal-Bullen and hardly worth targeting. Tigers are happy to let him go. He’s the JKH of their list!

JKH or more a stay at home defensive "pressure" forward LT.  We have lost pretty much our only genuine one in Jeffy and we got a little from Tracc when he was playing there but sounds like he'll be spending significantly more time in the mid.

ANB doesnt have any sort of speed to apply pressure or be that goal sneak forward. I get that Butler doesnt exactly shoot the lights out as an option but its a department we severely lack in now that Garlett is gone. The club surely wouldnt have turfed him knowing that we wouldnt replace him, hence the interest in Elliot. The only 2 we have right now that could fulfill that develop into that who have some experience in the seniors are Baker or Lockhart. Butler wont cost much, and at worst would be on a 2 year or so deal so if doesnt work out we move on.

He was very good for the Tigers in 2017 when he won a flag with them. His pressure and tackling in the forward 50 was elite.

Walk up start as a small forward in our best 22 imo so it’s a yes from me.

What a headline.  The article merely suggests he might be someone we could look at based on the fact we missed out on Elliott.  At no point is there any evidence from either club or player that we have even a small amount of interest in him.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
