  1. Very little chance GWS would receive end of first round compo for Tomlinson. Be doing well to get end of second round for him.
  2. A club still sold on Petracca’s hype and potential would cough up a pick between 8 - 18 right now. Can’t say that’ll be the case twelve months from now. Sell while there’s still value there.
  3. If it’s pick 3 for King AND pick 17 that would make it about on par with option b) Line ball decision in that case. King looks a very very good KPF prospect and would come with 18 months of development under his belt. I’d probably go for a) and use pick 17 to help solve the outside class issue.
  4. I’ve heard a few things. Can’t name sources sorry.
  5. Salary will be nowhere near it. Of course there’s an inherent risk in him as there is in many players. But for a third rounder the upside is enormous. You can’t take safe options all the time. Melbourne has to change that mindset. It won’t get us to the promised land.
  6. Pick 8 is too much for Laird even with the second rounder back. He’s a back flanker.
  7. Would be up walk up start on a wing for us. Back to Patton - he will only cost us a third round pick at most, maybe less if we can do a deal with GWS for pick 3. I think you’re all going to be very surprised. We’re going to make a play for him. Be mad not to try and steal him from under the Hawks’ nose.
  8. I could name about 10 in the last 22 who ran out for us who are less damaging than him.
  9. Delusional. You’re talking about a player who’s yet to even come close to the top 5 of his own club’s best and fairest. Has even come in the top 10 in the Bluey? I’d be surprised. Petracca’s numbers actually DECREASED thus year compared to his 2018.
  10. Like Scully and O’Meara’s “broken bodies”? Hmmm.
  11. Statistically his 2019 was marginally worse than his 2018. His 2018 like his 2017 and 2016 was actually pretty humdrum considering all the hype. People overrate Petracca based on his output. Has he ever taken a game by the scruff and seriously stamped himself as a match winner? Five seasons in we’ve yet to see it. Like another Dees no.2 draft pick Colin Sylvia before him, CP5’s ‘big breakout year’ is looking more and more like a mirage in the desert.
  12. I asked for a direct quote. You quoted Tim Brown. And you’re talking about maturity. Please. Who is Matsuo?
  13. Tom Brown is Brad Hill’s spokesman? Who knew ?
  14. I’d have no issue doing just that. Re the cap, other clubs manage these types of things. There are ways. The fact is we’ve recruited in recent years for a period of success now. We’ve got a talented midfield group that will be wanting a shot at glory in 2020 and beyond. We are not in re-build mode.
  15. If there areTrade Brayshaw and Trade Viney threads then there can be a Trade Petracca thread. Just depends on whether you believe he’s genuinely going to get any better or not. Purely statistically he is treading water season upon season: https://finalsiren.com/PlayerStats.asp?PlayerID=2626 Those are average numbers. Disappointing really for a number 2 draft pick after his fifth season. I’ve seen cases made where some of our supporters put him in the top ten forwards in the competition, which is plainly ridiculous. From my vantage point he’s a player who continues to operate off the unearned hype of media adulation, a player with serious flaws (especially with his kicking action) which may never correct themselves. I say sell now while he still has value. We’d get a pick from 8 - 15 for him which we could use on a classy outside runner ... or maybe even young Fischer McAsey to bolster our key forward stocks. Something has always been a bit off key about Petracca IMO. Work ethic, attitude, drive to succeed ... can’t quite put my finger on it but something has never quite sit right looking on.
  16. Viney will be fine, in fact all of our inside mids will be fine, when they’ve got legitimate options on the outside to shuffle the pill out to. Anyone would look hesitant and try to do too much if they looked up and saw ANB, JKH and Stretch etc as primary give off options. Watch the intensity and congestion of this weekend’s finals and then come on here and say we should trade Viney. Sheer lunacy.
  17. Pick 12 for Brad Hill, pick 14 for Laird, pick 21 for Langdon ... plus big Jonno Patton. Think how much better we’d be. We simply have to get aggressive and bounce back next season. It’s worth it.
  18. Who are these outside runners going to kick it to? Pray tell ...
  19. You didn’t throw his name up as depth but as a bonafide first 22 player on the inside midfield rotation. He’s played TWO games.
  20. Direct quote? Clubs, managers, journos, fans throwing out a lot of spin at the moment. Remember that Hill is under contract. If we throw pick 12 on the table and other clubs can’t get close to it, watch Peter Bell dig his heels in. There’ll be plenty of scope to make moves if we split our first pick with GWS. Hell don’t even be surprised if we chuck a decent player on the table to get things moving.
  21. Pick 3 and pick 38 for Picks 12, 14 and Patton Then send pick 14 to Freo for Brad Hill Send pick 21 to Freo for Ed Langdon Use pick 12 on best available 18yo at draft Out: Picks 3, 21 38 In: Patton, Langdon, Hill, pick 12 All problems solved. Thank your old lady for the bunny.
  22. The first scenario I’d consider, no way the second. Keep in mind we don’t only have to take 18yo’s with draft picks. We can trade them for players. That’s why I like ... - Pick 3 to GWS for picks 12, 14 and Patton. - Pick 21 to Freo for Ed Langdon - Pick 14 to Freo for Brad Hill - Pick 12 draft best available 18yo Out: Picks 3, 20 In: Patton, Langdon, Hill, pick 12
  23. There’s more than one way to swim a lap. Trade pick 3 to GWS for picks 12, 14 and a decent player. Along with pick 20 (likely Langdon) there’s more than enough cachet to go a long way to addressing the outside midfield problem. Four inside midfielders is not an excessive number. Ideally you want a balance of four inside and four outside in your rotation.
