All you Melbourne people need to get to the ground this Friday night and support the Dees. Lets have more people there than Sydney as last 2 home games were poorly attended by us. I can't as based in Qld but I reckon we have a big chance in this one. Been playing some ordinary footy but only just getting beaten so tidy up some basic skill errors, look for our players for a change when we win the ball (which we do often) and come home with the bacon.

Ever considered house swapping Doc?  Starting this Friday!

He also predicted the bloody wash out!

Might be time to erase that 'Optimistic' ending and just go with Uncle Bitters!

WOW!  We take out 3 players who are over 190cm and bring in 2 who are about 175cm (Spargo, Chandler).  2 other sub 178cm players (Viney, JKH) are in the side and other additions: ANB and Stretch aren't exactly tall at 180cm.  Then there is Jones who is also 180cm.

We have gone from giants to pigmys!

Expect a big loss - except Sydney is also tanking!

Edit: we are going to be physically monstered.  Sydney has two 'short' players Jack and Papley who are both 178cm but strong.  We will be like lambs to the slaughter.

got to have the players to replace them with and don't say Preuss and Keilty

Hunt dropped. Cannot say it is undeserved. He has been playing like a guy who is just seeing the season out. Some disgraceful positioning and pressure efforts. I hate to say it, but he could be traded come the end of the year.

Midget side, how are we going to win with no talls?

Protect the front and centre of packs and bring the ball to the ground.

Plenty of switching of play and run, run, run!

Maybe Chandler ha been brought in as a chop out for max at the end of each quarter. Not a hell of a lot of talls in there to move into the ruck for a bit.

Born and Breed in Melbourne's east. Was transferred for work in 90's and have no need to go back. Kids and Grand Kids now up here. So as far as house swapping it's a big no.

Won't be any interest

This side is up there with the late sixties when Tassie Johnson was our tall.

Absolutely staggering selection.

Wtf is going on?

That's why we brought Spargo in, siss. By the way he plays, he obviously believes he's a KPF.

I thought Petty did a shoulder last week but what is OMac’s injury? We couldn’t go smaller if we tried, maybe Pruess was an option just to have a tall up forward.

Weakest team we have fielded all year, bar none!  If we win, I'll eat my Demon beanie (or some of it anyway), and put the video on here for all to see.  Cheers!

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.

After five consecutive defeats, the Demons have now notched up back-to-back victories, comfortably accounting for the Tigers in the traditional ANZAC Eve clash. They surged to a commanding 44-point lead early in the final quarter before easing off the pedal, resting skipper Max Gawn and conceding the last four goals of the game to close out a solid 20-point win.
