Pickett looks like the type of small forward player we really need. Gee, those highlights look good. I have watched them a few times. 

The thing about a player with Kozzie speed skill and agility, is that as he builds his engine, he’ll be able to impact in congestion, forward initially, but into the midfield at times to add some x-factor in there... in the way Melky and Jeffy can (could) at times.

Yeah I'd rather use pick 20, and yes I wonder if the mid sized Bergman or the slightly bigger Weightman were better picks but the speed to the drop of the ball, the taps on, the pressure. There's so much to like.

Bergman is seriously overrated in my opinion. Bloke by the name of Fraser Phillips who I'd take over him any day of the week.

Love this pick. They obviously targeted him and see him Round 1 addition (which is good because Luke J will be at Casey for a bit I reckon).

Never draft for needs but if it’s an even field... we have such a need at SF!

Decent forward structure and this kid running around and we will shoot back up the ladder.

The recruiters seem to have a good handle on what their competition is after.

If they were confident Pickett would be there at 28 then they would have waited.

If they were confident they could trade down and get him, they would have done that assuming there was a willing partner.

I suspect they “knew” Pickett was going to go by mid teens or so and therefore they needed to get him where they did.

I like that Taylor goes against the herd. Following what everyone else thinks is safe, but it doesn’t create the point of difference that could be the game changer. Pickett does fill a big gap on the list.

Pickett can clearly be a game changer, the trick will be if he does those highlights once every four games, or four times every game at AFL level. And while he clearly has the attitude to chase and be physical, I have no idea if he does the “boring” defensive running too so as not to be a liability when he doesn’t have ball in hand.

Wonder if Goody will tell the story to Kozzy on the night he tried to get stuck into his uncle...

Been waiting 20 years for this.

If he makes the grade he will bring the kind of excitement that the likes of Jurrah, Farmer and my namesake did.      So pumped.

Compared to last year it has been a pretty weak draft for names. 

Now that I've seen his full name is Kysaiah Kropinyeri-Pickett I'm completely sold.

Another poster mentioned the word "opportunistic" earlier and having listened to the comments coming out of the Club, I believe they have been very strategic in their drafting. The club never expected to have 2 picks as high as this in this years draft and prior to our poor showing this year thought they would trade for needs (which they have) and would take best available in round 2 and 3. The surprising opportunity has allowed them be a little more speculative and take a greater risk vs greater reward approach. If neither of these players reaches the level you would expect of such early picks I think we still have a solid team (and they should be solid contributors), with a great ability to succeed. If these two players become what I hope they will, it might just be the last two pieces of the puzzle that allows us to have sustained success. So many posters on here have asked/encouraged the Club to be bold, well they have been and I cannot wait to cheer all our new players on.

Kosi's lack of height might help him tuck in under opponents and prevent him knocking their heads in to next week!

Ricciuto was the only one really standing up to Pickett in that video, although Goody had a decent crack and wasn't too worried about Tredrae and co.

So I guess we can look at this two ways. 

If you go solely on the value of the pick and who we could have picked up then you have to be pretty annoyed that we overlooked a bunch of seriously talented players who will probably turn out to be a lot better. 

If you look at it as part of the whole draft/trade period and the package we have gotten as a whole then we've filled our need for running wingers, picked up a talented small forward to replace Garlett and a 2m forward/ruck to develop who will probably see game time next year.  Plus an option on Bennell and Brown if they look good in training.  You'd have to call that a good haul. 

I just hope we can all keep looking at it this way when Kemp is accepting his Brownlow...

You can train it but for the great front & centre artists it's a natural skill.

yes, he won't need skills training......just physical development to build him up..... nice to have an instinctive, natural footballer

Has goal sense too it seems. You can't teach that and none of our forwards currently have that.
