Great win by the Bombers undermanned and on the road

Adelaide are a joke of a team, seem to have all the pieces but something's missing. Just never trust then to win a competitive game.

Our constant injury excuse wears a bit thin when you see an undermanned Essendon missing high quality players, win a game in hostile territory.

Or maybe sides like Collingwood and Essendon (who can win with numerous injuries) have far better depth than us.

Nailed it. Their outs would be equivalent to ours however find a way to turn a 5 goal deficit into a 3 1/2 goal win.

Also for those that bag our skippers need to have a look at what I consider the worst captain in the game in Walker. He went missing in that GF and again tonight. If I was the Crows I would look to get rid of him pronto. Going gets tough and he plays in the stands.

Absolutely. The MFC do not work hard enough at a constant level

We hide behind excuses so many times, rather than just get down and do it.

Essendrug are a top 4 chance now.

We are nowhere....

peptides' workrate is enormous

they don't give up and they keep fighting at the moment - they're on a run not too dissimilar to that which we had last year

as a football side they play a brand of footy that is entertaining to watch

When your allowed to run further with the ball, throw the ball and maggots look the other way , run out of bounce continuously and play on, acceptably kick ten metres, run over the mark continuously without stopping....... and the other Team isn't, who cares how many free kicks are paid.......Most of maggots barrack for same team anyway.

Looks like 17th spot will be ours by 4:30.

Wtf can you say??

17th Spot is all ours

I just wonder whether the message will ever get through to the MFC.....

It's okay. We're working hard. At least we get pick 2? That's the message around here...

Once the round is over though and WC have given us a football lesson, the pressure gauge will turn up on Goodwin. 17th with 5 rounds to go. No where to hide anymore. Let's see what excuses are thrown out now.

Oh i am waiting. This season has been in first gear the whole time...

our injury list has been bad yes, but no worse than many others....

I see Tex did what Tex does best....................... a whole lot of nothing!

The next coach in line to go has to be Don Pyke.  As DD has pointed out, their captain does absolutely nothing, but so does their coach.

Remember the Alice Springs game last year?  All he did was stare at the players.

Not a single move made by him from the 2nd quarter against the Bombers.  No tag on Stringer.  No-one on Tipungwuti.  How many unmarked Essendon forwards got easy marks and kicks in their forward 50...Brown, Heppell etc.

Such occurrences are all we have to cheer about these days.

Sickening that we're below carltank on the ladder.

Seriously walking out of the final against hawthorn after the game all happy and excited, if someone told you then that in july next year you will be 17th on the ladder and Carlton would be above you you would never ever have believed it.

We should have beaten Adelaide by 4 - 5 goals.

We thrashed both of them at VFL level by more than 60 points but for reasons I cannot fathom very few of our VFL players take the next step.

Hey does this mean if we finish bottom 3 or 4 we will get a soft draw next year?

Yes, and Noah Anderson to go with it.

Yes.

They categorise the draw according to a 1-6, 7-12, 13-18 finish.

Injuries have definitely been a factor but 17th on the ladder is beyond injuries. Absolute disgrace for everyone connected with the club. Excuses have been flying but seriously it beyond comprehension. Can anyone believe the last rebuild has been nothing but a complete con job yet no ramifications for anyone.

That's why I'm not fussed with Carlton overtaking us today. If this seasons going to be bad it might as well be truly shizen. Regroup over preseason with players ready to go on day 1, with the number 2 pick and an easier draw.

Yes. West Coast have done it a few times.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
