GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs Western Bulldogs

Recommended Posts

Unfortunately we are almost 2 players short with the horrible form of ANB & Gus till half time.

If those two can improve a fair bit in the second half we have a decent chance.  Otherwise we will be over run from exhaustion with others trying to make up the difference in their lack of impact/output.

Very few teams could cover those two at the moment unless playing someone like GC.

Two gifted goals to Doggies by the maggots that quarter. New ruck rule this week I must have missed the notification!

Watched from just after Lloyd's two goals.

We're doing better than this thread suggests but still not great. Massive amount of ball in our forward half but continued poor kicking inside, dropped marks, poor positioning, mistakes (e.g. Brayshaw's lack of awareness) are killing us.

Dominating through the middle though and their last goal was just an appalling free kick against Gawn.

I reckon many on here are over-rating Preuss. Maybe his shoulder is sore but his tapwork is nothing special, and when it hits the ground he's a liability at the moment.

The decision against Max for blocking was one of the worst calls i have seen in my entire life.

If you have any doubts, watch a replay.

[censored] disgusting call .

Cost us the lead ffs.

Worst free of the year.

Imagine a GF being decided by that free kick?

These are the exact reasons why umpires need to be given suspensions. He clearly does not know or understand the rules , he is not fit to complete his job correctly. There is no excuses with frees like that, he was 3 metres from the ball with no obstructions in his view.

The umpiring isn’t affecting the result but it sure is affecting the watchability of this game, which I reckon is otherwise an enthralling contest if not the most skilled game ever. Even a few of the frees paid to us made me laugh out loud.

Enjoying Petty forward experiment-by-necessity. Not quite ready to call him a swingman yet, but he’s contested well and looks like he might do until we get actual forwards back.

Are you watching !!!! ANB is struggling for strength, but Gus has been off with an injury and has been far from  the worst.

ANB is lost. Fumbly and disposal is poor.

Gotta be honest here.... everyone can see i rated the guy due to my DL sig, but he has been bloody terrible this year.

Practically a liability.

We are a worse team with him on the ground. Brings SFA.

It wasn’t Brayshaw’s lack of awareness, it was Clarry not putting a block on after the handball. Clarry should have had Brayshaws back.

This.

It was [censored] poor from Clarry

The anti-Max rule is alive and well!!!

Wasn't he penalised 5 times vs Saints in 2017 for the 'straight arm block'.

It is the rule the umps pull out of their dusty old box when they want to bring Max down and give the ops an advantage.  Really hurts us when it is front of their goals.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
