Bit harsh on Brayshaw

His possesion count was low by his standards (which may reflect his role) but I think he had the 3rd highest tackle count ,which is an area he needs to work on. He has been squeezed out of the midfield by rank in that Viney wants in there and oliver's natural position is as a ball magnet . CLArrie was magnificent in the last qtr.

Whilst ANB did have a high tackle/pressure count, he misses too many shots (set and snaps) to be a really top small fwd. Pity, because his effort level is great.

Tom McDonald - FMD in fact FMSeason

Finally after a difficult season he hits good form and !!!

Are there still any non believers in the Curse of Norm Smith?

Edited by monoccular

Mostly agree, only ones I'd change personally are...

Viney - Bullocking but dumb.

Frost - Contract extension time.

Brayshaw - Should be dropped.

Dunkley - Coupla nice moments.

Petty. Shows potential

Frost. Starting 22 in 2020

Neal bullen. B grade

Viney. Not a thinking footballer

Oliver. Leadership in spades

I didn't see the game. How did Hunt in our forward zone cost us 4 goals? Name the occasions please.

Very good question Booby I am as mistified as you. Kicked 3 goals including the winner. Not a bad effort for a half forward.

Hunt had a handpass late on the wing southern side and we are streaming forward desperate to halt the Hordes from RPC (Royal Parade Cheaters).

Hunt needed to find a team-mate, who had implied pressure so handpass had to hit target (that's an expectation at this level) but ball bounced in front of team-mate (can't recall who) and it was TO - can't recall if RPC got a goal out of it but that was one.

Hunt did take a contested and well judged mark in the third term and then converted but I agree with comment Hunt caused three other TOs.

So another poster who only  watches the game for errors

Oliver - Run, Clarrie, Run!

Hunt - Goal In Time

Trac - Some Great Efforts

Preuss - Welcome To MCG

Marty - Get Well Soon?

TommyMac - 100 Then Out?

Team - Hung In There

Some of his defensive work & tackling were A grade today.

He saved us on a number of occasions with a hand in or by sticking a big tackle.

Wasn't a big possession game but he played his part...

Geez l thought it was a good effort with our injuries.

In years gone by likely to have been a different outcome.

Missed a simple handball on the wing that would have put us in the clear and into an empty f50 with numbers advantage, instead he turned it over and they kicked a goal.

Second a poor handball 10 meters out from goal resulted in a scramble instead of an easy goal.

centred the ball at the top of the 50 to an outnumber whilst under no pressure and they ran it down the other end.

He turned the ball over badly with simple skill errors.

He was as bad as he was good.

Keep playing

Petty needs games

Dunkley clever skills

Wiedeman future key

Sure, finally decided to lay a tackle once he was put in the middle, but still seems to be struggling to get around to contests. 2 clearances is poor IMO, and his disposal is not any better. Just think he's been 'off' all year and if he's carrying a niggle (which I've heard is the case) he should be sent off to get right for preseason.

He missed weed in exactly the same way after that. Cost us a certain goal (he hits the handpass and weed kicks an easy goal from the goal square). It went straight up the other end for a goal.

Not long after he missed an easy target inside 50 by foot, which is par for the course for us, But the problem was that he turned it over in tbe corridor and it got swept down tbe other end. Fortunately not for a goal i don't think.

So, yes as one of the commentators noted he was given a chance to redeem his errors. And all credit to him that he took that chance.

There was another bad mistake that seemed to  escape the commentators attention and demonland's as well. On that last kick by hannan he had hunt and brayshaw on over the top, with hunt being completely in the clear. Should have handball it to him and hunt would have run into an open goal.

Missed this post. Could have saved myself some time by quoting it!

The odd splattered disposal is a feature of Hunt’s game in general unfortunately, particularly by hand. I place him in a similar category to Frost - plays an exciting style of game and does a lot right, but always a chance to do a few things in a game that make your eyes water.

Surprised at the negativity on Jones’ game. I thought he had a pretty tidy game, especially considering he was on for the entire second half without break. Where and when were these terrible mistakes?

The Demons were wasteful early before putting the foot down early in the 2nd quarter but they chased tail for the remainder of the match. They could not get their first use of the footy after half time and when they did poor skills, execution and decision making let them down.

  • WHAT’S NEXT? by The Oracle

What’s next for a beleagured Melbourne Football Club down in form and confidence, facing  intense criticism and disapproval over some underwhelming recent performances and in the midst of a four game losing streak? Why, it’s Adelaide which boasts the best percentage in the AFL and has won six of its last seven games. The Crows are hot and not only that, the game is at the Adelaide Oval; yet another away fixture and the third in a row at a venue outside of Victoria. One of the problems the Demons have these days is that they rarely have the luxury of true home ground advantage, something they have enjoyed just once since mid April.
