Andy Lovell was an underrated loss.

Nathan Bassett never played a senior game for us.  Don't know if that counts him out or not; good player though.

What!!! No Gisberts????

I’m surprised Werridee hasn’t had a crack yet. He’s generally the first up when there’s s best 22 on offer.

I’d swap Bassett for Matthew Bishop. The guy could seriously gallop for his height. He had a wonderful career at Port.

Toss out anyone in that backline and replace with Ingo (for starters)

I was devo when Scott Thompson got traded. He turned out to be a gun.

Whenever I think about something like this, I am reminded of one simple rule:

Never trade away someone named Josh Kennedy.

Sean Charles is missing traded to Carlton. Walk into this side! Serious wrist injury falling off a trail bike. He was never the same. Above footballer.

Travis Johnstone.

Are they "trades" when they are walk-outs? Alves, Wells, Spalding, Scully, Healy CHOSE TO LEAVE US.

So if you're counting them where the hell is the best of the lot: R D BARASSI?

Apologies for shouting.

If we can include Nathan Bassett, why not also include Darren Jarman? Drafted by us but never played a game.?

I grew up playing with Bish and what he did at local and rep footy was insane. Good solid player, was shattered when he left.

On further thought Alves should not be there. He was not a trade. He went to the VFL Appeals Board. Melbourne received precisely nothing in return.

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
