If Lever is out then Petty comes in for me. Time to start getting some games and development into him.

Watched him play against Collingwood VFL game and his intercept marking and ability to provide drive from defensive 50 was fantastic.

Frequently dropping it too. Has Bull ever worn a glove? Might seem like an obvious and dumb idea, but.. just maybe it could give him a little edge in "catching" them like McGovern does with his sticky hands. Borrow Jayden's, he surely doesn't need em!

Simple solution, used by Sean Wight, Yze, et al; could make a big difference to him at the instance of the big grab.

I'd like to see tsmith play on Ryan, while still going for the ball. He's been there best intercept player so stopping him is a must

I'd like to see both TSmith and JSmith in the same team on game day, for that matter. It would have strengthened our Team, all year. Shame about the reality of circumstances....

That's what I'd do. Freo spread like crazy. Getting as many runners through the midfield and wings will be vital to stop their run. So even though he's a limited player Stretch comes back in to run with Langdon or Hill.

Time to give Jones a good run at half back to see if he can reinvent himself. Time to give Smith a fair go at it as the 3rd tall forward to see if that frees up Tom and Sam as it did for parts of the game against the Crows in Darwin. Petracca should get some midfield time as well.

I'm not sure whether I agree or disagree, but I do like the way you've explained your changes.

Why the [censored] did they rush him? I just can’t with this club’s injury management.

I commented on this 3 weeks ago Jaded about the Lever & May inclusions, especially with limited game time at Casey (Lever 2 quarters & May 4 quarters for Casey). Makes no sense whatsoever & shows total disregard for player welfare & care . I know the players just want to play, but really, we are no chance to play finals & achieves nothing! I would have thought that the coaching & medical staff would have learnt from the Viney experience ......

Dumb....

I keep saying it and i hark back to a thread i started "Professionals" - this club is so far off the pace when it comes to these sorts of things. It really does my head in.

Changes should be:

IN: Smith / Lockhart / Lewis

Out: Wagner, Spargo, Lever (inj.)

In Lewis.....Out J Wagner.......I hope Lever is right to play........  If not bring in Pruess and send TMac to the back          line..............In ANB........Forward pressure.....Out.....Spargo  for reservicing.

Tim Smith a chance........ Sorry to say that Garlett is on his last legs.

Lewis in? Are you serious?

Brad Hill, Stephen Hill,  Fyfe, Walters,  A Brayshaw, B Matera, Wilson.......good luck keeping up with these blokes!

Will be up to 4 changes for this weekend. lets just say the injury curse has not left the building.

ANB in and tell him to stick on Wilson all day. Pressure him so those Rebound 50s are uncomfortable all day. Can’t afford their gun players to create havoc once the ball is cleared from our forays forward.

Can you elaborate more??

Astonishing we are favourites. They are going to absolutely smoke us imo.

How on earth do the bookies have us as favourites? Bizarre.

If I was Stephenson I would back Freo.

May on Hogan would be a disaster, Jesse is an aerobic animal (despite also being  a party animal), he will take May up and down the field constantly and soon blow him up. Freo have far too much run, pace and are frankly a far better team than us this season can't see how we wont get hammered....

You might not like the pick and is a fringe now and certainly in his last season and he knows that. HOWEVER! IMO he still offers experience ,is injury free ,had his Casey games and his last game there was clean and direct with hand and foot. If he is picked then he has earned it not given.  LG we can still make the 8 so why not keep pursuing until mathematically we cannot. You have to keep the faith and l am sure others agree.

Your right, we are all trying to stay positive N but we have been poorly coached IMO, with a total lack of team balance whilst also playing unfit, out of form & injured players all year.

I don't like the pick & it stinks.....Earned his spot? One good game in the 2's? Getting suspended again & showing a total lack of discipline & team first habits.......

I do respect your thoughts, however, If you think he is the answer, then we are in more [censored] than we think.

Lever is knee soreness rather than the reported foot soreness. Hopefully not more than a week or 2 to settle down.

The loss of Lever is a serious setback, but his absence does not mean we have to pick a third tall, although Petty will be considered.

Lockhart will be a definite in and I'd hope ANB and JKH are brought back in to try and counter Freo's run a pace.

And as stated in my mid-year rankings, I'd be punishing Olly for playing safe and playing him at full-forward.

As with others, Wags, Jeffy and Spargo are first out . I'd have Salem on Walters, Hibberd on Fyfe to free up Harmes and Jones on Matera.

T.Mac should be rested until he is back to full speed fitness level and his omission leaves room for T.Smith and Preuss.

HB: Jones Frost Fritsch

C Baker Brayshaw JKH

HF: Petracca T.Smith Hannan

Ru: Gawn Hibberd (Fyfe) Viney

Dunkley would have to be a chance after his great game.  Might need some more VFL time though.

Sounds all too familiar

Hopefully we see him sometime in 2021.

Someone said Hibberd missed training so I'm guessing he's back on the list?

Reckon you're on the money here DD36.

Petty for Lever (inj) and Lewis for Hibberd (inj) seem likely changes pending accuracy of rumours going around.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
