Gee I guess the secret is sack your coach and you win the following week. But I would love to see Viney or someone just lead the way cripps does. 38 possessions 4 goals. Thats how you bounce back after a quiet week.

I also read on the herald sun website that a fan was ejected at 1/2 time for abusing Mathew Nicholls. Wonder what was said.

I too wish Jack Viney was a 195cm midfielder who could kick with both feet. But alas he's not.

We work with what we have at Melbourne. At least we have Clayton Oliver.

We couldn’t be anymore Melbourne if we tried.

How great is patrick Patrick Cripps?  38 touches and 4 goals.

Hes a level above Clayton Oliver, who needs to start hitting the scoreboard, hes way too good not to.

I read that he called him a "bald [censored]" ... so speaking the truth is now an ejecting offence in Gill's PC AFL.

Enough!

And Adelaide overran another team with a big lead in the last quarter!  Two weeks in a row,  Have they been swabbed?

Would love some of Adelaides home ground advantage, 24 frees to 7!

GWS must have played seriously dirty football and Adelaide the near perfect game is all can say to that.

Adelaide looked average against us last week but have beaten red hot GWS and are now sitting in 5th.

even though we lost we made crows look second rate.

Maybe we need to give them more credit and we actually lost to a good team.

bodes well for us vs pies

I read this morning the AFL has come out and said there were 7 incorrect decisions during the game. The count should have been 24-0.

Also, I’m wondering if anyone else saw Phil Davis give Betts a high 5/congratulatory tap after Betts kicked a freakish goal late on? When players were moving back to position I’m almost certain I saw Davis do that and I thought at the time if that was a Melbourne player I’d be livid.

Curious, is that good sportsmanship to recognise greatness on the spot or is that best left for after the game?

AFL in 2019. Where the AFL arrest and punish fans rather than address the terrible umpiring standards. Where 20-year-old Docklands stadium wins the Brownlow for Best Stadium.

Tried to watch GWS vs Adel which was apparently the game of the round so far. [censored] boring. Sacrilege around here to mention it but the NBA playoffs have been x10 as entertaining. Warriors down 1-3, it's glorious.

It’s sort of akin to a tennis pro tapping their racquet head when an opponent pulls off a miraculous winner, or wins a epic rally. Sometimes you just have to acknowledge the greatness.

Some years ago the Brazilian maestro Ronaldinho, playing for arch rival Barcelona, torched Real Madrid at the Santiago de Bernabeu, putting on a virtuoso display of skill and goal scoring that was simply too brilliant not to appreciate. The Madrid fans gave him a standing ovation as he left the field. Unheard of!

Different player...

The HS website shows an article of a Max Q&A with May.  Can someone who can get behind the paywall summarise the gist of it please?

Edit:  Should have posted this should be in the Rnd 12 thread.  Nonetheless, would still appreciate it if someone could post summary.  Cheers.

Geelong are lucky enough to have senior players who contribute significantly week in week out. They have four or five players who are plus 28 who feature in their top 15 each week.

Remind me in that sense of North with Harvey and the Saints withe Riewoldt, Montagna and Milne.

They have also lucked into youth in the form of Kelly etc.

Hell..... I'm jealous

MFC are full of excuses, cats have strong culture, development, good drafting & get good free agents. Haven't bottomed  out since 07, won 3 flags & always in the mix to challenge for a flag.

MFC since 07, multiple early picks, rebuild after rebuild, 1 finals appearance & we have fallen off the cliff again in 2019!  Its the Melb way we just sustain any long term success!

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.

  • PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

Long ago and far away, the Melbourne Football Club replaced its coach in difficult circumstances after the team suffered a devastating loss. In the aftermath, I penned the following words: “Then came the politics, the intrigue, the axing, the sound of the football world laughing at a club, the circling of the media vultures, the reinvention of history, the anger, the irony, the pathos, the hurt on the face of the president, the dignified departure of the coach, and the determination of the newly appointed caretaker.” Today, we’re back in the same place although one difference here is that the coach who was terminated this time is Simon Goodwin, the man who four years ago

  • REPORT: West Coast

The Charles Dickens novel, A Tale of Two Cities, opens with, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, …”  This phrase highlights many of the significant challenges that humanity encounters in life, ranging from experiencing remarkable highs to living in times of despair. This is a concept that should resonate with all supporters of the Melbourne Football Club this morning as they reflect on its comprehensive 83-point victory over the struggling West Coast Eagles at Marvel Stadium. The outcome proved beyond doubt that they are the worst of clubs and that we are the best of the worst.
