Hope someone really crashes Mumford this week.  He is well over due.  Cannnot see any one at our club doing it . Where is Byron Pickett when you need him. Mumford needs to be put to sleep Match review weak as

the MRP hasn't fixed him up unfortunately

Wow. Mumford got off? Completely? Not even a 'reckless'?

Yep, for the sake of the game, he needs to be pummeled back into retirement. And I'm sure any regulars on here know I'm no fan of any unnecessary roughness.

It was a clearly deliberate hit, by a known repeat offender, with no approach to or eyes on the ball, against the exposed flank/torso of a 30cm shorter player who was already low to the ground and facing the other way, which sent the target to hospital with broken ribs.

If the AFL is going to let that wash, then I really think the players have a responsibility to step in. At best Mumford spends the game sore, distracted and limited, at worst it slows Mumford from his own sniping.

I think everyone -except- Gawn should be taking opportunities to casually bump Mumford at every chance they get. Gawn should be 100% focused on beating him in a purely football sense.

Team instruction: bump, harass, sledge Mumford any time the moment comes up.

Line in the sand, for us and for the game.

Yep let's soley focus on targeting one player only.. not forgetting the likes of Kelly, Tarranto, Cameron, Greene will completely run a muk because we'll be too busy trying to "Byron Pickett" him too sleep.

Real classy.

Most certainly not, that would be appalling; accidental maiming perfectly fine of course.

All jokes aside, one of the reasons that Hawthorn beat GWS was McEvoy’s complete ruck dominance. From there it was maintaining possession.

Preuss is the only one with the size to push big Mummy around.

i think he is a lock to come in this week.

I think Gawn and (hopefully) Preuss competely dominating the ruck against Mummy and kicking 3 or 4 between them would be better.

But hey, that's just me...

We need Pruessy to do some more Batman throwing (Dylan Grimes).

I think 99% of the footy world knew Mummy did it deliberately, but be disguised it so well, it was impossible to suspend him.

Mumford gets off for a malicious knee into the torso of a defenceless player but Daisy gets sent straight to the Tribunal for giving a Boundary Umpire a spray!  Daisy Directly to Tribunal  Christian has completely lost the plot!

Last week the AFL gives Rampe a $10,000 fine for telling an umpire he speaks quietly.

I get they want to protect umpires but this is the AFL gone mad!

Lucifer, you've made the mistake (I do the same) of thinking the competition is fair. Honestly, the Ablett decisions suggest to me that it may as well be headed up by Vince McMahon. The AFL has a vested interest in GWS doing well and when you consider what Preuss was rubbed out for, it's a real cause for concern imo.

lets not incite violence, with our luck if one of our players bumps mumford they will likely get reported. I expect mumford will be targeting max so it will be interesting to see how max copes with it, he did not go well against port when they tried that.

No,  we don't target Mummy... we play as we should be... vigorously at every GWS player,  with a bruising attack at ball and man..

He obviously didn't disguise it very well if 99% of the football world knew...

So Dumbford breaks a guy rib and he gets sent to hospital.

Daisy, tells the truth, and he gets sent over the coals?

Lol what I meant is he made it look like he clumsily fell over and got him when we all knew there’s a sharp kneeing action hidden there.

Not thugish stuff just real good Bryon Pickett like hip and shoulder.   Not a BUGG hit  Give him back some of his own medicine just saying. (ie live by the sword die by the sword)  More important of course to get a win.  PS still have not and will not forgive LONG for that disgraceful act in 2000 grand final.     PS I am not classy.

Gee would love Turbo to run through him!! Legally of course!

Mumford knows he's close to the borderline already. Guilty people always have idiosyncratic tendencies, ie... like looking at Umpire....

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
