Poor kicking cost us. We should have won the game. Our list are very talented but their execution is sometimes poor. Still think we will be electric when we get our injuries sorted.

I see Fritsch's problem as being fumbles. He seems to make a number of errors when going for the ball or handpassing. He nailed some kicks today though.

Well this is more accurate. Easily one of the better kicks. If BD was referring to fumbles and lack of clean first possession then it makes sense

The umpire was calling play on, but didnt move his arms. Maybe that confused Smith.

Maybe he just mumbled like a little girl?  (AFL can’t do a Rampe on me, can they?)

Umps played a small role in it, our goal kicking and connection inside 50 still the key decider in the result. Encouraging, but frustrating

Even when he doesn't directly he just kills the ball movement, takes so long to get back off a mark and move it on.

100% agree, he has no game awareness.

I know the kid tries hard and runs all day but his turnovers kill us.

Im most Peed off that Tim Smith was given Holding the ball, Every other instance of players stopping has been a ball up. 12 point tunaround and a concussion. Game over.

Total sling tackle with arms pinned. Free kick all day all night. Turned the game.

The AFL needs to introduce some form of appeal process to allow captains to have decisions reviewed on the ground.  That blatant throw in the goalsquare should never have been allowed to stand.  Beyond that, WC are masters of blocking players out of the marking contest.  One of the umps justified giving a goal to Kennedy by saying that if you block their run at the marking contest you need to contest the ball.  I lost count of the number of times a WC player ran diagonally through the contest to take out one of ours and give his teammate an uncontested mark.  Every one of them was a free according to the umpire's own words.  We need something like the NFL system to appeal bad calls on the spot.

Talented players who can’t kick the easy goals are actually not all that talented.

Umpires are a disgrace and never play Stretch again.  Turned it over 8 times tonight

No penetration and never kicks to the favoured side of opponent or pulls the ball to deliver in front of player.  Couldn't finish a basic gimme shot running in from 20 out.

Sorry but he just doesn't earn a spot other than a small amount of receive run.  He also often runs lateral and rarely takes the game on.

He stays for now until we can bring in better during the year and then trade.  Solid VFL player when under less pressure with more time/space.

He actually did move his arms but Smith didn’t hear him. Then driven into the ground in a dangerous tackle and no free and goal at other end and game over.

King and Eddie both rubbished the umpiring as did BT during the call.

It was heartbreaking becuse I was just starting to believe.

Umpiring horrible

Wagner is just horrible

Stretch is not actually quick and kicks 30m clangers

Clayton Oliver will never get to his true potential whilst he is handball happy, better tonight but cost us 1 in the last quarter

Nathan Jones and Jack Viney have no leadership

Jeff Garlett needs to go when its his turn

How many chances can we possibly let slip?

Tracc struggles to kick a simple goal, take a sitter mark or kick to advantage. His 2 goals shouldve been 5 or 6. Very wasteful player with the worst ball drop since Curly Austen

And Tmac couldnt mark much.

Jeffy p l ayed one quarter.

Marty Hore will be a star.

Stretch wont.

Viney used to be.

Harmes is.

Hunt could be.

Trac is fat Jack Watts. Will never live up to the hype.

Once Baker adjusts to the speed of the game he’s going to be a very good player.

Unsure myself but please please please make it so - and goalscorer while ya there.

Incorrect. Skill and talent are two different things. Look them up in a dictionary.

Billy’s miss was harder than all of Trac and Tom’s 8 misses.

Petracca and the coaching staff need to some [censored] out.. there is a very talented footballer there who is just completely over thinking way too much.

His ball drop is way too high.

Very disappointing.  We have nobody to blame but ourselves, but the maggots made sure that we had no chance of getting up in the last.

Tough way to end the season. Hurts to finally see some run and spread but not quite enough class to finish it and a select few horrible players who cost us the game single handedly.

Also agree with what has been said about the umpiring. Completely disgusting.

Again state we need to address the umpire fails which kept eagles in the match and ignored any advantage to us.

Without their fails we still win despite our self induced errors and poor conversion.

But what is that kick to a totally free eagles defender about, why can't we kick snide 50 to our advantage. Surely our players being kept out of contests deserves the same consideration as an eagle being kept out of contests, surely our forwards being held is worthy of same reward as an eagle being held.

its just getting so hard to watch our players being disadvantaged. Great effort

Heart breaking loss, because we did so well against all odds. Many in the media said it was season the line tonight, but that was never the case, but we need to win at least 2 of our next 3 against GWS, Adelaide and Collingwood.

I know full well finals are a long shot, but that was a good effort given the injury list and the lack of from.

You need a spell in the 2’s

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.
