Fit looking fella, which is a good thingย beingย a professional athlete I suppose.ย

Looks a lot older than 20.

There is no doubt that playing with better players gives you a good chance to perform at a better level.

That of course has to be tempered by the fact that your opposition is better and quicker and the game is faster.

The real problem for Oskar, is that unlike most clubs, we are poorly skilled and that pass that should hit him on the chest may in fact land in a food outlet.

Glad though that he is getting a chance and hope he has a good one.

Point taken but the โ€œhigher standardsโ€ donโ€™t necessarily have to be from his team mates. Players can rise to the standards set by the opposition also.

Congrats Oskar and looking forward to seeing you burn the park and hope that your hammies hold up well.ย  Watching you play for Casey over time l have become a admirer of yours for the way you play with aggression, and chase hard and use your ย speed to your advantage which willย  do you good in the AFL.ย  I know you have many admirers and hope you showcase yourย  talentsย  tonight and in the future.

Long time coming.

As I said in the Gameday thread, I reckon it's the new haircut.ย  He looked like an unkempt kid with the mop.ย  Now looks like a man!

Like to see OB get a game soon. Needs to just be allowed to use pace at all times.ย

And we hope he uses the pace tonight. ย Great story too.ย

3 years ago Oskars mum Trudie passes away from cancer. ย He promises her that he will get to ย an AFL list andย play AFL one day. ย Tonight it happens and near his 22nd birthday. ย Lots of tears for family and friends when OBย runs out. ย I hope he savours the moment. ย Well done Oskar.ย

As The Small Faces once sang...

โ€œAnd, depending on my labour...the texture and the flavourโ€ - same as a football career I presume...

Oh! That was him!? The same person? I knew there was a reason I was confused. Really does look totally different, body and head.

That's what happens when you rely too much on the online radio.

Has looked good so far. Pace, and great disposal (although it is only the first quarter). Fingers crossed he can become the gun winger weโ€™ve been looking forย

Oskar showing alot. With Melky out for at least the next month I can see Oskar getting a good run at it in the middle and up forward.ย

Didnโ€™t he look (sadly) a bit like Ben Brown?

Did some good things and will hopefully acclimatize to the pace.ย

His awareness should increase with experience meaning he will get caught with the footy less and find some space to break the game open.

Some encouraging signs from him. Would like to see him retained for another game.

Id give him 5 week stretch of senior footy.

I reckon he will be the kind of player that will actually play better at AFL level rather then the VFL standard.ย

Loved hisย game tonight

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterdayโ€™s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andย  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
