Hi all,

Has anyone heard why Brayshaw hasn't been training? Buried at the end of the MFC article about the Brayshaw Family's 100x100ms is the fact that Gus can't do them this year, and he's been MIA for a few weeks from the main group.

The official line a few weeks ago was that he was sick, but surely there is something else to it.

I’ve heard on the Monday after the preliminary he took too many Brownlow votes.

For all the improvements the club has made, I've got to say that this is still an issue for me (and other supporters).

It's odd enough that there's been no word from the club regarding Gus given he's missed multiple weeks of full training.

But what's even more baffling as big red pointed out is that the MFC publish a full article regarding Brayshaw's unique training program on Christmas day, only to end it by saying he won't be completing it this year with absolutely no word on why.

Amazing that things go seemingly unnoticed by the MFC.

[censored] me off to no end.

An article on the famous 100 100’s run by the 4 Brayshaw boys, but Angus says ‘this year I will be watching on, unfortunately...’

Does anyone know what is going on with Angus that he would miss?  Is he carrying an injury, being load managed, or ???

I cant recall having surgery post season (but could be wrong).

Would welcome any insight....

He must have some injury or issue they are trying to manage, such as back issue or osteitis pubis. He's been training on his own running laps for nearly a month now after he initially missed training due to being "sick". My concern is that the club hasn't said anything, not even a 'had a minor back complaint so managing his load pre-christmas'.

Hopefully it's nothing too serious and doesn't impact his 2019 campaign. His 2018 showed how damaging he can be and how important he is to our midfield going forward.

Pisses me off to no end.

Perhaps he doesn't want his personal medical history made public.  It amazes me that people just assume we should be informed of the players' situations all the time.

Having said that I'd love to know.  Viney, Hannan, Brayshaw etc etc.  Pity there wasn't a Dave Misson injury update before Christmas.

See the other thread opened recently about the same topic.

I just wonder why there is silence when all are very concerned about Gus - and we deserve the right to enquire. He is so important to the team and our game.

I don't have an issue with this but then don't do a club article that brings attention to it.

Word is it's a back complaint but nothing has been confirmed and he's been in the rehab group running laps for most of the preseason.

Yeah.. he's back up in Sydney...   ?

... testing the waters.

Is there any word that Sydknee want to off load Buddy.   and ease some cap space ?

100x100ms? Easy, I’m running them tomorrow, just warming up with some Coronas tonight.

In regards to Gus, if hasn’t started main training by mid Jan or so then we’d probably need to worry a tad. It feels so different starting preseason later than usual, hopefully it’s just a no risk approach leading into the Christmas break. Not a fan of the silence either.

I remember at training he said strained something. Not sure what he strained though.

Credibility.

Then we are back to complaining about the club not providing information again.

There has been a marked improvement post season in the consistency and quality of both articles and multimedia. This was an article however that did nothing but highlight something not being answered (why is Gus not in full training).

I was talking to someone over Christmas who would know, they seemed to indicate there was a calf issue, but then again they didn't even know for certain...

I agree completely with everything already said around that we're not exactly entitled to know everything that's going on - but it definitely speaks to the manner in which MFC communicates these things

Preseason training/running.  It could be shin splints.   they might be de-loading him.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
