The reduction would be minimal.

Reduces the likelihood of concussion by up to 55%

Edit : I have no idea how valid the data is But it references Australian sports - AFL - https://hexlid.com.au/pages/technical-specifications - Looking at the graph it shows approx 40% reduction in likelihood of concussion

hasn't kk been wearing a helmet at vfl level for several weeks now?

he certainly was the weekend before last

Yes he has!

I guess the players wear the helmet:

- to give them confidence on the field (not necessarily viable but whatever works)

- to worry their families slightly less (Brayshaw)

Jeffy and Joel done for the season. KK copped another head knock. No Lever this week. Hibberd a chance.

Round 14 Injury Report

I must say I haven't seen much of KK either in previous years or this year, but could it possibly be that he has a problem with peripheral vision / spatial awareness like that Saints guy ?Koshitske?

Joel Smith out for the season.  As is Jeffy.

New injuries in AFL:  Keiltly 3-4 weeks (Ankle)  Stretch (Foot) 2-3 weeks.  No info as to whether it is the foot Stretch hurt late last year.

Difficult situation for them as all are out of contract at EOS.

As Lord Nev mentioned KK had another head knock.  Hope he is ok.  Happening far too often.

Jeff, Stretch and Keilty must be very close to non renewals

To those saying we should have taken Joel Smith off the ground, we had a JLT cup game to win and he kicked 4 while planted in the goal square. I don't see what the problem is.

Does anyone have any factual information about the nature of his injury?  I didn't see the JLT game but when he kicked these goals did he look hurt?

Smith, Garlett and Vandenberg all seriously injured during the preseason games. (Vandenberg last year.) Those games are a disaster for us.

SD - so are you suggesting that we boycott these "meaningless preseason games"?  Would you then be prepared to cut the team some slack if they take time, maybe a few rounds, to get vital match practice?

What happened re Joel Smith's groin? Havent heard much about this, seems he has flown under the radar.

He had an uneventful JLT series. Must have tweaked it at training before round 1....

Hahahahahaha.

It’s that or cry. How good has 2019 been?

It's such a write off. As long as we can have a healthy-ish list for the start of preseason then I'll keep my hopes up for 2020.

Gets a run of form and then he's out for the year. 2019 has been disastrous!

Hopefully it sets us up for a nice run at 2020 though with a softer fixture and a hopefully "fresher" squad

Yup. Do we know the recovery time for TMac? Obviously no more matches this year, but how will his pre-season be impacted?

Not sure, but apparently it's only a "slight tear", so at a very rough guess I would think he's safe for the start of preseason. Sparrow had a similar injury, I think a worse version though, and he was expected to miss about 8-9 weeks.

Silver lining for him individually is that he hopefully got some of his 2018 confidence back before going down he, can hit the preseason hard. Better going down now than late in August

makes no difference to our season. hope tom McDonald recovers and works on his goal kicking in the off season.

Ofcourse TMac is out for the year. Thanks 2019, you've been a blast!

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
