A lovely morning for GF.  Shame we are not there.  Hoping for a good game of footy.  Share what you are up to and your thoughts on the game (to take our minds off Hogan and Freo for a little while...)

Feel a bit for Dunne.  He did the hard yards with us, didn't choose to leave and didn't mess us around when it was time to go.  Found a niche for himself and has performed well.  Missing out on a career long dream is tough especially has he may not get many more chances.

Not barracking for the Pies tho'...

It’s a funny one this year. It was a lot easier to get into the GF excitement when we were cellar dwellers. Now there’s that pang of ‘so close’..

Go Weagles for 2 reasons:

- we’d be able to say ‘ah well , we got beaten by the eventual Premiers’.

- under no circumstances will I ever have the ability to barrack for the Filth.

We’ll be there soon, my friends...

The game will be tough to watch. A good time to do some household jobs I have been putting off for a long time.  I might just go for the Magpies to win because last Saturday at halftime my mother in law who lives in Perth called me just to remind me how well WC were playing and lauding their beautiful kicking. Like she never calls me direct unless she normally wants something so obviously a naked example of rubbing it in.  I will be more than happy to offer my sympathies if they lose. The only small positive I can wish for.

with a bit of luck i'll get the book i'm reading finished this afternoon

then i'll have free night to watch our co-tenants the storm crush the roosters tomorrow

Tickets for restricted members go on sale at 11am.   Thought it was a very small queue this morning...proves that no one except pies & eagles supporters care...very different demographic in member this morning

Not sure if i can watch it. Still sad and still in a bit of shock actually from last weekend...

Dam!

Agree, no enthusiasm or interest in today’s game. Still grieving we came up short.

Yeah its not any easier a week on. Will have to watch it though I'm a footy nerd.

Well, just saw that ‘ScoMo’ (what sort of [censored] nickname is that anyway??) will be cheering for ‘Perth’ today.

Kiss of death.

Pies by 15 goals

We could have been there but such is life. I will watch over a few beers and a Parma but no emotion. Also don’t care for a close game, I’d be more than happy for a whitewash this year as long as West Coast are the ones washing.

I’ll open a bottle of a cheeky Shiraz, have a cheese board, put on a Mahler symphony and read some Stoic philosophy in Ancient Greek, as all Demon supporters would.

I’m sitting outside gate 1 waiting for my husband to meet me here. So many Pies supporters - I feel dirty. Joffa and the gang on their way over the footbridge chanting ‘Collingwood’. Got my antiseptic hand wash ready.

Just walked past Andrew Gaff who looked surprisingly cheerful. No where near as big a bloke as I thought he would be.

Its going to be a long afternoon....

Early Channel 7 coverage has Oscar MacDonald winning the final of the longest drive off the tee competition they have been running during the season. 292 meters, that’s up there with the tour guys! I think he plays off 1. You wouldn’t pick him as having exceptional hand/eye coordination sometimes on the footy field.

Well done, won a set of Taylor Mades and the gold jacket.

Get stuck into the booze early Jane.

Worth a watch if you didn’t see it.

Good man Joffa. Puts all the million dollar trades and billion dollar rights deals into a bit of perspective.

“Quite a few people out there won’t have eaten very well the last few weeks tucking a few dollars away to pay for a finals ticket.”

Honestly don’t care who wins today but if he’s waving that stupid gold jacket around at half five pm I’ll be happy for him.

Really not that interested but like all Grand Finals I will watch. I hate the filth so I would like to see the cokeheads beat them by 1 point and then see McGuire squirm like a maggot ducking for cover.

Seeing Pies go down with a goal after the siren, would be worthwhile!

But hard to barrack when hate both!

Agreed. I am on my way to the game and am not looking forward to barracking for team that knocked us out of the finals. Support the Pies for the day, no way.

Came out in the MCC ballot so may as well make use of my $695 a year membership.

Go Eagles ???

It will be a good game to watch. Don’t support either.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
