I don't know whats going on with Kolodjashnij. He has all the skill and talent in the world, but he is very tentative. It may stem from concussions, but he looks like he doesn't want to play football. Maybe it is the Suns and footy wasn't fun. But he is an insanely gifted football player and athlete. If he lived up to his junior talent he'd be a top 5 player for us. Nothing I have seen this year suggests he will even make our best 22 though.

Nobody reaches their potential at the Suns.  Must be a horrible place to play footy. A graveyard for draftees, like us from 2007-2013.

Brendan McCartney will be drooling over this kid..    as in what he will be able to do with him footy wise,   not literally drooling on him.

That's the most disappointing nickname attempt since someone here tried to start calling Trac 'Petraccattack'.

I have one for Steven May too   - ' Skullcrusher'.

Is that one any good?

KK is the wildcard in this trade, has had similar problems to concussions as Gus, but I was always sure Gus would pull through them. Hopefully coming to our club can help bring his raw talent to the surface.

Good luck Kade!

Good luck Kade looking forward to seeing your speed, run and carry.

How about MAY-DAY? when he lines you up, you know you're going to come crashing down.

I like the KK pick. I was a massive fan of him pre-draft. He is a special talent IMO. I am worried about the concussions though, mainly because he is cut from a different cloth to Gus Brayshaw. With Brayshaw you know he'll play regardless of receiving more. With Kolodjashnij I suspect another 1 or 2 and he is done. Different temperaments. I like the pick though. Its steak knives, but the reward could be significant. I am a massive KK fan. He is silk.

Only if he crushes $cullys Skull.

This guy is exactly what we want in terms of ability.  He's a bloody good size for a mid or flanker, quick and has actual foot skills.  We just need to see if he can get his head right.

Still would have liked Martin though.  ?

Very happy to have Kade on board. Long & gangly, covers the ground very well, long penetrating kick. Will break lines and gain a lot of metres for us.

Love this trade. Pre-concussions he was on his way to becoming an All Australian level half back flanker. He was a gun.

If he can keep himself healthy and get past the concussion issues like Brayshaw has, then we’ve just found the wingman we’ve been missing for the past few years. Perfect size at 190cms, has pace, agility, and elite kicking skills. Very similar in size and attributes to Isaac Smith at the Hawks. He could turn out to be the bargain of this whole trade period. We should be thrilled to see what he can produce in red and blue!

It basically makes kade a free hit the way the trade played out. And this kid has absolute A grade talent and potential. I think a bit like Gus his confidence putting his head over it has taken a hit due to concussions but they’ll be able to support each other and I’m super confident it’ll be a bargain pick up for us.

Could he play as a crumbing forward or swap from midfield to forward? I think he will be pretty good for us.

He's 190cm and they see him as a wing/half-back runner with his accurate left foot.  Mahoney said this morning he'll become part of the midfield rotation.

Oh hahahaha. It’s clever I’ll definitely give you that!

Thanks for recognizing sheer brilliance.

Mahoney on Kolodjashnij:

“We are confident his concussion issues are over and we have seen our own success with that with Angus Brayshaw and Neville Jetta who have had concussion issues over the last couple years.”

“We are confident with that. Through our midfield, we think we need more run, we need someone who can play a legitimate role on the wing and halfback."

“Our recruiting team loved Kade when he got drafted five years ago and to be able to bring him in, we know he can play those positions.

“We think he is a really good addition for us in the midfield.”

It’s obvious this is designed to attack the need that the Gaff chase was to address. He definitely has a role in the best 22 if he can get fit - beautiful kick.

Basically replace Tyson/Jones kicking into the forward line with KK/Salem and we are a lot better.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
