Farewell Jesse Hogan

Featured Replies

A risk worth taking. It's no accident T Macs form has dropped off in the absence of Hogan. They worked well in tandem. He is exactly what we need.

I get that isolation has been hard on all of us, but Christ, this will never happen in a million years. Imagine Freo trying to sell it to their members:

"Look guys, we know Hogan cost us pick 6 and a shot at drafting Ben King, but he's served us extremely well for the 12 games he played and we are happy to respect his wishes to return to the Demons. Given that his trade value has plummeted, we think Spargo and a 3rd round pick is more than a fair return."

ummmm this post just fuels the doubt people have on your info. You post one message, saying Hogan wants to come back, that your source is Connolly, then people start asking questions then you want to smoke bomb it straight out of here. This has troll written all over it.

Everyone knows you can just cancel it yourself.

The leopard doesn't change its spots. When he was with us, away from his bad WA influences, he often showed disinterest and went sooking to the umps.

That's what we'll get if he comes back.

Huge talent, likely to be unfulfilled no matter the club. Maybe AFL-level football isn't for him.

It would have to be a very heavily performance based contract.

As we have plenty of time to think... if you had to - who would you prefer?

The potential of Jackson on the park

or

The potential of Hogan on the park

BOTH on the park!!!

Really happy for him, like Bennell he could be someone that actually benefits from this lockdown.

loved watching him when he was with us, sometimes with my own despair as to his performance, but cheered him anyway.

As long as he is not starring, or Freo winning against the Dees I will cheer him on still.

The old adage if a tree falls in the forest.. if Hogan kicks a bag in a non demon game, will there be any dee fan around to see it? I know I did not schedule any freo games into my spare time last year or will this year, so how can I cheer him on?!

Tbh I would love to cheer him on to kick 8 against us, just to witness some decent intuitive forward craft, wrestling a defender out of the contest and taking a 1 hander. thats the kind of [censored] I can enjoy...but at the end of the day, we still get up by a point over there. Best of both worlds!

No, not digging this up to bemoan the loss of Jesse in typical fashion.

Just passing on that:

Longmuir said that Hogan will play as a defender against Carlton.

Must watch TV for me, given it was said by many that they'd like to see him tried in defense, if the Freo trade fell through and Steven May did not come. Also said when he was having a run of poor form or was sooking at teammates too often throughout his career with us.

I saw this today, interesting thought. I often considered it to be an idea when he didn't seem to be working hard enough, but he was just so damn talented as a forward that he was always just ready to break a game open. Could be a good move for reintroducing him to league footy as well.

That said if it were us I could picture every other fan saying that we're tanking.

Longmuir said that Hogans to the backline is just temporary for the rest of the season as they have lost two key defenders.

Is there any chance Jesse would return to the MFC at seasons end or is it a pipe dream?

Imagine him slotting in next to the new and improved Weid.

That’s just a reflection of how ridiculous the WA govt are in relation to COVID -  move on.

Even if WA has gone a bit neurotic asking people to quarantine when they have been isolated for months AND constantly tested AND only been in low-risk states... Hogan still is accountable.

Just glad the matter itself seems very minor. It ought to be handled as any other breach, and that actually seems to be how it is going.

Be funny if the restrictions are lifted a bit for new arrivals the next couple of days but Hogan still has to spend another week+ getting cabin fever.

I take it all the Eagles players are back over here stuck in quarantine for two weeks after playing their last game in QLD?

Jesse needs to get out of Perth. He made a mistake heading back there. It’s too much of a fishbowl. I suggest the club get onto his manager to discuss how to get him back to his rightful footy home, the MFC!

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
