Agree.

The war is the premiership.

The battle is the trade period.

A single trade is an engagement.

So long as everything is driving to winning the war the other parts don’t matter in isolation.

Who knows if we have the right strategy. Time will tell.

This. Exactly.

Pretty much as I expected...

Stirred things up a bit and now off into the sunset he goes...

Bye 'RR', can't say it's been fun but it's been

It was always RR. I got that right!!

Not the worst trade but surely we could have done something more creative and got pick 11 will a swap of later picks, would have been nice to see some high end talent come in from this draft

Good work MFC.

Now to get some players in who WANT to be here.

Will be interesting to see how many dummy spits Hogan has with the FREO midfield delivering the ball to him.

It will be very interesting how he goes next year.

Watch every other club in the league circle our midfield over the next 3 years.

"Melbourne give up their stars for peanuts. Let's give Clayton, Angus and Christian a call, surely we can get em for a second round each."

We'd better get on with winning next year's premiership so I can live with Jesse nabbing the Colemans in 2022-2025.

You know it's a good deal when the usual posters are the ones melting down, while the rest see this deal for what it is.  Always comforting.

You are the biggest suck job, sycophant on this board. You're not Glen Bartlett are you, backing in his employees?

Please enlighten me as to why we included pick 65 in the deal, and how pick 6 has any value to us if it is going straight to GC. We would have been better having 11 and 19, and sending 11 to GC.

And you're the biggest waste of space on the board, posting negative tripe every chance he gets.  Works both ways, you big sook.

What has he done to be worth more than 6 and 23?

When has he put together an uninterrupted season? (not counting Casey as a 17 YO)

When has he absolutely dominated a game?

How many B&F's?

He is not without risk.  He is a talent, and has potential.  Lets just take what we can get, and move on.

Average trade. We paid overs for Lever and have let Hogan go for unders. Lucky the list is in such good shape otherwise, as we've proven to be weak at the trade table when the big deals need doing.

I think there's some internal inconsistency in this post. How is it that our list is in such good shape if we are weak at the trade table?

I am so upset I am going to jump.................in the pool here in Bali.

Bye Jesse.

Welcome players who want to play for the MFC and it’s next Premiership.

To wait that long for such a pathetic outcome.Bunch of amateurs....

Goose

So Freo this trade period
Gain - 14 and some later pics, Hogan, Lobb, Conca

Lose - pick 6 and Neale

They've smashed it. They've landed Hogan and Lobb AND still got a pick int he first round. We've been poor by comparison. Disappointing.

Trade paperwork officially lodged. Gold Coast Suns trade Steven May and Kade Kolodjashnij to Melbourne for Rd 1 (6) (on traded from Fremantle)

Freo have been absolutely desperate for a key forward .. we DID have leverage before we came out and admitted we're happy for him to go home and we need the deal to get done for May... Amateurish

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
