I would like to see a tough hard second half where we contest everything with ferocity and make them hurt. If we can win the second half it will help is in our preparations for next season. Another [censored] poor display.......who knows what will happen over summer

Didnt see that coming. Feel sorry for everyone who went over to perth to support the boys. We are still a young side, and this is an experience they will never forget. The future is bright and we will be up there for the coming years ahead.

....apart from all that.............F. Uuuuuuuuuu........

They have taken away the hallmarks that have held us in good stead all year.  Time to get back to basics and earn some respect Melbourne.

I would like to see them outscore the Eagles for the second half as a minimum.

Half the team overawed and the adrenalin that we have played on over the past month has run out.

Need a Plan C from Goodwin after half time.  Petracca and vdB into the middle. Oliver one out at FF. ONLY Frost on Kennedy. Tom Mc to CHB.

Playing for pride now.

Oliver having to use the toilet just before the game unusual. Perhaps food poisoning? Would be surprised if the players food got spiked over there.

West coast are playing angry after the last two losses to us over there. We have not stood up at all. Struggling to find a good player. Viney tried in the second quarter Tmac stood up in the first apart from that horrible

Look, we can still win (although unlikely), but that's not the point. We've already surpassed expectations this year. So our buildup for next year is what truly matters. We need to show that we won't stand for this. If we're going to go down, we have to salvage some dignity and at least send the message that we'll be back next year, a little older, wiser, fitter, angrier...

8.8 from turnovers is the story right there. And it’s not because of the opposition, it’s just the nature of the game. Play them in Melbourne, get the first 3 goals, and it’s an opposite result. Once the confidence goes with young guys, it’s like a waking nightmare, which this is.

perhaps ... but losses like this just restart the old cycle of fragility

Yes I am gutted

But we are a long long way ahead of where we were a year ago - have applied magnificent pressure the past month and have just burned out

All that hard work we did to get here, all those hard fought wins, all that effort, just for us to play the worst game of the season. It’s like all that hard work for nothing. I’m gutted. I’ll watch the rest of the game, then I have a father and brother here. Absolutely miserable mood here. Like a funeral

This is about next year now, sad as it sounds that’s the truth. Regardless of the result I’m proud of them but to lose by such an embarrassing margin will live with us. We need to fight and scrap for everything as if it’s a new game, Gawn needs to fight back as that’s as bad a half of footy he’s played. It actually looks like he’s given up on his midfield with taps to no one and instead slapping it forward.

Spargo should’ve kicked his goal, Viney should’ve got a reversed free (umpire was scared of overturning it because of the crowd), and Jones shanked a simple kick to ANB which should’ve give a shot on goal. Aside from those times we’ve barely looked like scoring.

We are fit, and anger does nothing good. The first two are a given.

I think that is extremely ambitious

If you're at the ground do you leave early? I know we give Adelaide fans crap for it. But I'm not sure I could stay in that environment with a MFC shirt on.

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
