That's a point in their favour .... but they're still Hawk supporters.

It's a noble cause and I expect they will offer their use for free. Haj .... Demon flag ... not hard to pick the more vital cause for world peace and harmony ...

the Haj finished a couple of weeks back so I suspect they are "free".

They could fly via Bali thus making them international flights and get around the local regs... I think we may have something!!

Do you reckon we could get them painted in Demon Colours?

Bali is as Aussie as Great Keppel Island. You can tell by all the Irish pubs, German steakhouses, etc. So really they should be paying us.

Malaysian airlines have a couple of A380's that have been sitting mainly unused for the last few years. They tried to sell them but no takers as well as trying to lease them out. They are now used for the Haj pilgrimage once a year until the lease runs out.

Perhaps we could get them over for the finals week and seriously move a few people around. The airfares asked by Qantas etc are ridiculous .. you can fly return to London for the price they ask.

DJ anyone who gets on Malaysian airlines plane has a death wish.

That's pretty lucky!

My Dad wants to book some cheap deal he found today. He says we'll regret it if we don't. I told him only when we are 10 goals up at half time, will I let him book it.

I'm a big believer in not jinxing it. If we book early, we'll lose. It is our destiny to win, and then spend a bloody fortune to travel to Perth, on the red eye, and sleep in a dirty motel. I can feel it!

I have secretly put money on Hawthorn to win to jinx them! I never win anything.

If Chris Scott was half the coach Clarkson is, then this would’ve been the 1st half Geel plan last week.

Dees v Hawks will be the game of the finals.

It's not right at all though. We have been in all but 3 games all year and have barely dropped our heads. It's an opinion based on Melbourne of past years.

I would say those planes are for ' Mystery Flights ' if it's Malaysian Airlines.

@Fifty-5‘s point still stands generally, in that supporters looking two weeks ahead makes no difference to anything at all. Unless you have some (as yet unspecified) reason to believe the players are getting ahead of themselves, but that’s not what you made it sound like.

I was trying to point out generally the dangers of taking Hawthorn too easy, or thinking we will just roll over the top of them, wether you be supporter, member, player, administrator or whatever. ( I don't think the players get ahead of themselves). If people want to take offence at that, honestly too bad.

That's the worst spell of whether we've had for a while

Didn't really take much from it. Sounds like they are ready to pack the season in and go hunting for Bambi.

And they rip us going to the snow...

At least the Hawk fans can spell and use appropriate grammar, unlike Geelong supporters

That's because most of them used to be Melbourne supporters and jumped ship when it got too hard in the 70s and 80s.

Mostly the same posters regurgitating the same [censored] over and over again, with the occasional random post trying to compensate for Hawthorn's own inadequacies by constantly bringing up round 4.

Just like Demonland then

Agreed. It's an old take on Melbourne which was relevant 8 weeks ago but less so now.

We didn't have the West Coast game on our terms all day, and indeed they fought back and took the lead from us. But we steadied and won.

Geelong opened the first quarter with the first 4 inside 50s. We didn't panic, we didn't collapse, we didn't go into any shells, we just steadied and blew them apart.

A lot of supporters seems to throw around general MFC-style cliches - we can't play in front of crowds, or under lights, or in prime time, or against experienced sides. We've slowly been debunking each of those, to the point where they're not going to decide the game.

Great idea as long as they stop at Perth and not continue on.

That’s absolutely true. But in terms of strategy, the worst thing Geel did was expect us to be overawed at the start. They played open and let us into the game with our attacking style.

Clarkson is far smarter, I’m sure he’ll first restrict our game style and then try to pull us apart.

I don’t think it will work, but it will be a far more interesting tactical game than last week.

I don’t necessarily think it’s about any perceived weakness, it’s about countering our strengths.

Scott arrogantly thought they’d play the game on their terms. Expect Clarkson to be smarter.

Agreed. Scott is an average coach compared to Clarkson. He would have watched our game, and all the previous games we've played against each other, and will try to choke us up the ground and shut the game down. Where we can break this, is to win some good clean ball in the middle. Start well in the clearances and put some pressure on them going forward, and it will go a long way to breaking them down. This is where our inside mids and Gawny are just so so crucial to our success. You can stop a lot of things in the modern game, but you can't stop teams winning clearances.

This game worries me. Last time we kicked one goal for all of the last 3 quarters. We dominated the first only to be smashed. They seemed to just switch off.

We seemed to have gelled since then but Hawks have several players capable of kicking a bag.

Game will hopefully won in the centre with improved Gus and Wayne. Most interesting game. Kent kicked half our goals. I wish he were back.

Harmes is rapidly approaching "A" grade status. His second half of the year has been a big factor in our improvement.

Trac, however,is not better than a "B" grader, and its up to him to change that. Not a spud, but certainly not a champ.

Harmes always  had the desire and determination, just needed consistency, confidence and some skill improvement.

Trac is still an important player. He is tough at the contest, his tackling is first class and man o man that handball to Jonesy was a thing of exquisite beauty. Polly Farmer like.

  • Players like Breust and Smith are never going to look good when we have our backs against the wall.
  • Should have let that embarassing club rot. The amount of shame and embarassment they have brought on our game far exceeds the good.
  • Don't worry hawks fans. Picture Petracca's [censored] face taunting Sicily. That same face will be in tears Saturday week after Kennedy and Darling have finished with his team.
  • I'd keep Mirra and get rid of Frawley, an absolute f&$king spud.
  • Can we trade for spargo looks a good player.
  • Impey is actually pretty ordinary.
  • Years of tanking finally paying off.
  • How many times is clayton oliver going to throw it?
  • Melbourne wasn't good on the night! umpires were magnificent tonight.
  • Any chance we can give Frawley back to the D's?
  • Richmond made us look worse than we really are. Geelong made Melbourne look better than they really are.
  • Poor max gawn is a bloody hideous looking individual.
  • Lots of Melbourne booing, has tomorrow’s snow report come out or something?
  • Senior players gone missing for the second straight week.
  • Oliver is the biggest cat in the AFL... tries to act like a tough campaigner but isn't.
  • Do. Not. Ever. Kick. The. Ball. To. James. Frawley.
  • Melbourne's pressure in our forward line was excellent.
  • This posession gamestyle we play will not bring any more success.

That was superb reading. Suck it up Whorethorn

James Frawley played a cracker tonight

It’s a bit of a guilty pleasure, but I’m loving this thread each week.

No different to how the resident nuffies would have carried on if we had lost.

I know a couple of Hawks supporters... One of them is a great fella despite the fact he married my Ex-wife (I was their photographer that day too btw ). Can't hate the bloke as he is a brilliant second father to my daughter. I feel a bit sorry for him actually. He even tipped us, and wants MFC to win the Grannie if his team couldnt.

The rest of them, however,  can go and get [censored].

[censored] arrogant [censored]. The slide down the ladder begins now for you pryks. (Nothing against your club as they are the absolute model of professionalism)

Enjoy the snow.

the most arrogant of all supporters, Dorks fans. I despise no teams fans more.

Some muppet was having a right old sook ans having a go at a Dees supporter not too far from me. 10 seconds later we kicked a goal and everyone told him about it. Was pure brilliance ?

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
