I like it.

As long as itโ€™s not high, why should fending off with foot be different from fending by arm..?

Adds a new dimension and skill to the game... bring it on!ย

Well next time an opposing ruckman goes into Max at the bounce with studs outย  ............??

RUCKMEN ARE PENALISED FOR MAKING EXCESSIVE CONTACT (

yeah, and to make it even tougher, why not a spot of eye-gouging, or since that is contact above the shoulders, how about twisting the oppo's balls.ย  ย .

Well it was ok for Prancer on Friday night, and I'm pretty sure he had a crack at Dangerfields gear a few weeks ago as well.

But that's ok, because, ask Brooce, he's a champion...

if he tries to fend off a player by raising his leg, the player should fend of his foot by raising it above his head to protect himself. Then see how well green lands after that.

I would be seeking clarification from the AFL. ย If he uses the leg, can you attack it? ย When is it a kick, and when is it a fend? ย If you grab it, is it a tripping offence? ย Can we now use this in ruck contests as well as marking contests?

I see it as a weak dog act. ย Should be outlawed when the foot is intentionally raised to make contact with the opponent. ย Should use his body or his footy smarts, not be Mr Miagi.

It's not just the foot being raised he's actually kicking out, he got the Sydney player right in the guts. I don't know what the umpire was thinking here.

ย

The Dalhaus one was even worse as that wasn't even a marking contest,ย it should never have escaped suspension...but typical AFL making a rod for their own back.

A dirty coward whos afraid to take contact, hence sticking the leg out.

Now I want to play them in the Grand Final so Jack Viney can sort him out.

He's not using the kick to protect himself, he's using it to guard space.

He's actually kicking out at an opponent and that's kicking in danger.

No need for a rule change.

Could also be seen as a kicking report if he makes contact, and he does.

Knee up for protection yes, foot up questionable but kicking out most definitely not.

I don't think it falls under kicking in danger because I believe that rule specifically refers to "attempting to kick a ball in a dangerous manner".

But there are already rules around kicking and rough play that are appropriate.ย

I hope he cops a week. GWS can't win without him, he is their most important player. Hate his guts.

Get rid of him, and in the process get rid of this soulless garbage franchise of a club. Don't deserve success.ย

Now correct me if I am wrong Jaded but I am getting the impression you don't like GWS.

Given that they wonโ€™t have the guts to make a stand whilst their love child GW$ is still in the finals, they must make a stand inย the off season.

Hell, they are so bloody keen on making absurd rule changes - goal rectangle and 666 for starters - how about making it very clear that the foot is for contacting the ball and nothing else. ย

โ€œFending offโ€ with the foot -> mandatory suspension, yes, even for members of franchise clubs.

They guy has a crappy record andย gets a sizable (by AFL standards) fine for dropping his knee into an opponent. Why the f doesn't he get suspended? Or does anything go during finals for GWS?

What a load of Sydney bin chicken poo!

Although Christian did say the incident with Newman should have been a free kick against Greene.

Hope the pies players put their boots into this trolls face?

How can the AFL allow this little oxygen thief get away with this c&$%?ย

What happens when this *&*&^$ knocks some out and they have concussion?ย

Ok the ground rules have been set. Its a free for all.

Break his leg and he might change his tactics

Gutless Christian - still there was no way the love child would be penalised.ย

I hope this has been properly discussed at the back of house.ย

I can understand this approach,ย in that reporting and suspending such acts are subject to a whole bunch of grading issues and will result in real variations between what is allowed and what isn't allowed, resulting in inconsistent outcomes for similar acts.ย

But if umpires are told "pay a free kick any time this happens", it'll stop pretty quickly. Particularly if GWS is told the will be a crack down this week.

WOW that is one big bag of complete BS - not sure what the MRC are thinking really

How he can get away with deliberately sticking his boots into someone attacking the ball is beyond belief

Karma hopefully will prevail and he does his ACL next attemptย ย

The AFL would love nothing more than for GWS to win a flag, so they can turn around and say "see expansion clubs are great". It will help them save face given where Gold Coast are at.ย

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If youโ€™re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footyโ€”you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Caseyโ€™s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down thereโ€”and good luck!
