Walls never supported or had any soft spot for us. He never rated us through the Daniher years.

Ultimately we proved him correct

Anyone want to buy some grand final tickets?

Haha! I get your sentiment, but just back the boys in, you have no choice anyway!!

Damn, organised my wedding for September 29th! I went and paid top dollar for two great seats to the GF, so can anyone help me out? Her name is Julie and the wedding is at St Mary's at 2pm, good luck go dees!

Anything is possible but realistically I think we needed to finish top 4.

He also said eagles would be the wooden spooners this year.

Happy to be there this year. As said,2019 will be the year and weeds will be the next big star.

This year will take it as it comes, hopefully beat cats and after that it is a raffle.

Lets get past this week first.

if we are serious as a team this "should" be a good solid win on Friday.. 30 points and then who knows. The odds of four on the trot are low given our performances in big games this year and our inability to stop run ons but I am relatively confident of a win on Friday night (one caveat... we need to nail the set shots).

Even if we don't win the prize this year, this heightened expectation and fugazi is good training for the upcoming dynasty.

It's about time that even Walls is recognising us as a legitimate chance for the Premiership and that means we have been playing good consistent footy all year.

We stand out and why not have them jump aboard. l love that as it makes me feel proud of how our boys have responded from missing the finals in 2017.

Win this week and we will have more admirers on the bandwagon. What a great sight that would be. We can all believe!  We can all dream.

During the home and away season - at critical times in critical onfield locations - across the season, the MFC were culled, drawn and quartered, emaciated onfield, prejudiced against, disrespected, devalued, violated and abused by the green snot goblins and the AFL itself by direction.

Prominent teams could do anything illegal without penalty against us.

Now that the scrutiny of finals is so very much more focussed, the 'powers that be for the gate receipt ascension of the game' can little afford to repeat these performances in their judiciary role.

In other words, it is less likely that umpires will even try to abominate the laws of the game for the advantage of any team playing against the MFC - or keeping MFC opponents in the game by nefarious decisions until the moment is ripe for taking the game from the MFC.

This more focussed finals culmination of the season and the lesser the likelihood of onfield interference (to which others and I have repeatedly referred) will provide a finals environment that is far more even and fair than what the MFC has had to tolerate all through 2027 and 2018.

This improvement has enabled many observers - of which Walls is but one - to be able to declare their expectations that the Dees are the team to beat throughout the finals series - and are red hot to take the flag where fairer play applications are involved.

Otherwise, where deliberate exercises in the 'advantages' of interfered games occur, these pundits of note would otherwise have to 'shut up' and not acknowledge what has gone prejudicially before (as far as the MFC is concerned, in so many games.) The pundits' interests in AFL dependencies might no longer apply and the truth, justice and evenness of our beloved game may come to fruition - alongside pundit support. For this, onyer Wallsy. 'Carna Demons!

This is bad. Walls is almost always wrong.

In which case, the law of averages says he’ll get this one right.

@Deemania since 56 quite an interesting post. In general I'd agree the finals ought to see a more balanced attention by the umps. I'd also expect the games to be allowed to flow even more the deeper into September it goes. Short of all in carnage finals get a different treatment.

People keep offering our club nice big cups of bathwater...

how did they get our bathwater?

Proverbially. I believe there was a baby involved.

Walls suggesting we have such a high ceiling has me floored.

Sure the window is open but we still have to open the door.

Well I always rated Robert Walls and I might be in a minority here but if he really didn't think we were a chance WHY would he risk his reputation on a Whim.

I know I have been tainted by Lots of False Dawns and Hope

But if it works and we win this week??!!

Sheeit the lid will be well and truly BLOWN!

Oh no, don't tell me Schwab/Neeld/Connolly/etc went and got rid of it! At a time when all other clubs put a huge premium on bathwater. That'd be right, etc.

Your intrepid correspondents reporting from the very far ‘top end’ (Sparta Greece) It is all in the lap of the gods. Team will hopefully take  inspiration from the locals when famously confronting the Persians pussycats at Thermopylae ‘G’. No problem with Robbie Walls  the oracle at Deelphi has cast his bones...

I honestly think we have the best team/list bar Richmond of the other contenders and are in good form, so are the Cats though so not ideal probably would have been better playing GWS week 1 haha.

Hawks - being propped up by old premiership heroes

Cats - as above

WCE - Once Kennedy declines its over, Gaff may leave also

GWS - they are leaving in their droves

Sydney - Always thereabouts but have to eventually fall and certainly not improving just sticking around with premiership heroes

Collingwood - Only other team you could make a case for being on the up - still Pendles, Sidebottom etc aren't getting any younger

Tigers - on the up and will be our main competitor for years to come I believe

I find Walls to be more miss than hit with his comments. Bit like my golf game!

  • AFLW PREVIEW: St. Kilda

The Demons return to Casey Fields (aka the Field of Dreams) this Saturday to host the Saints in Round 2. If you’re feeling lucky, head down the Monash for some family-friendly footy—you might even walk away a winner. The first 5,000 adults through the gate will receive an entry into the $10,000 helicopter ball drop. With Casey’s infamous wind, what could possibly go wrong? Closest ball to the pin wins. So spread the word, get down there—and good luck!

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.
