6. Gawn - he is now manipulating where the ball is going and Clarry is now 3m from the circle to give him space as the ball bounces. Actively pushing opponents into the circle as Gawny knocks it out.

5. Oliver - get ball, that is what he does.

4. Brayshaw - under-rated as a mid, he's briliant in the clutches

3. ANB - he was there for major linking plays, runs hard and kicks goal. Was it me or did I see his leadership in one of the forward line huddles after a goal?

2. Petracca - Pulling his head in, has the ability and the ideas, just doesn't always work. Breaks lines and great linking player.

1. TMac - does what a forward needs to do, kick goals, bring the ball down if he can't mark and support others.

Special Mention to Goodwin, for not persisting with the 8-6-4. Then we lose it once we get it in the forward line. need to be more flexible in the game plan. Trust the players.

Just like last week, it was a great win on the back of an outstanding team effort.  I found it almost impossible to separate Max and Harmesy for bog, but in the end I gave it to Max by the width of one of his whiskers.

apologies to...

> Frost - best game i've seen and had the FD selected him ahead of Petty against the Saints and gone with the 6 / 6/ 6 structure from here as well, we might now be sitting in the top 4 with a double chance!

> O-Mac - fantastic all round game, maybe only bettered vs the Saints.

> Vanders - great football brain / decision maker / heavy hitter with AFL tank building a little each game!

>  Shout out to Weids....best game so far for mine.

Hardest game ever to distribute votes, almost created a fake profile just to share the love, was so happy with the even team performance.

ANB, in everything early and ripper goals, Jones a great game, Lewis many good touches, Spargo all heart, Vanders made me believe, Salem a silk touch, Hibberd a rebounding threat.

6. Harmes - I counted four Dustin Martin moments where he shook a tag, hope he adjusts his game for when we play teams that like tackling as the Giants were a bit soft today. His ability to take a look and take the most damaging option rather than blaze away has shown enormous development.

5. Gawn - - is only a clown off the field, a real leader on it - did you see his chase?, no tickets on himself, it was his turn to go so he did, must have killed him

4. Oliver - his touch is becoming more damaging.

3, Frost - His best game by far, Hunt who? I swear he's breathing nitrous, the way he turns it on, I just start cackling with laughter, how can a big bloke be so fast. I hope McCartney can do the same magic with his disposal that he has done with Harmes

2, Jetta - (Should be called Jack, because he was a giant killer, laid brutal tackles today on all of the giants biggest players) people are taking defence for granted, we won this game behind the ball, stopping the Giants run cold at the half back line. 2nd Quater was where we smashed the Giants (at about 10.30m in the qtr, was when the giants realized they weren't interested in the contact

1, Brayshaw - an excellent game finding the footy, in any other week he would have had 4 votes (look at who has been left out) but he gets the last of the 6 spots because his disposal was iffy, but then I think about his goal....Is the only reason he gets in over ANB, had a cracking game as well.

Surely leaving out Harmes is an oversight, right?

6 - Harmes.  It says something when your tagger is being held at the bounce.  He is becoming a genuine star.

5 - Gus.  Just plays a great all-round midfielders game.

4 - Gawn.  Thought Lobbe showed him up early on around the ground, but Max dominated the ruck and worked hard to counter Lobbe's forward running.

3 - Frost.  Could have been higher.  He's really settled into the role as last defender, using his pace to close down space and generate counter-attack.

2 - Salem.  Not prolific, but he rarely wasted a touch.

1 - TMac.  Got us on the board early.  Had his kicking boots on today.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
