Damn it

Good start to the day. Choice of seats at this stage. Don't be fooled by the blue sky, it's bread monkeys here in the wind.

I know in modern footy that being tough is putting your head over the ball and going when it's your turn. But you need mongrel in finals. Who provides the protection and does the damage for us?  I like Kent for name-related reasons, and TMac is a hard man.  We've got plenty of talent and no squibs. But who are GWS afraid of?

Bummer. There goes 2-3 goals missing!

Such a meh change. JKH has shown zero at senior level, would have liked Bugg in ahead of him. Bugg for all of his issues has shown his best at senior level is well ahead of JKHs. (Hopefully no-one sooks up at a view on what we have seen from JK).

[censored] a duck. [censored] change. Injuries are just pissing me off so much this season

JHK is just such a nothing addition.

I'm a late out, so will be part of the TV audience.

I have a feeling. It started in my nethers ( a sure sign of veracity) and is evolving. Because I can't be there, I reckon Melbourne will have a mighty win today.

This momentum will then carry us into a glorious victory in the Elim final.

I will have to rejig the nethers before subsequent predictions.

BBO - late out (nethers)

Bugg would've only added 1 Goal 3 Behinds and 1 Out on full

Prefer JKH for his defensive run

Hannan was great last week.  Hopefully just a 1 week injury.

Just need JKH to not be a liability and we should be ok.

Big shout out to the MFC for embracing and rewarding their members this week. My 8-year old won the ‘Junior Mascot experience’ for today’s game. She’ll be running out with the boys, through the banner! Asked who she’d like to run out with (they get a choice), she said without hesitation, “Clarry, and if not him, Max.” She knows her footy! Great reward for a dedicated young Demon.

So no-one else doing the lap of honour? Surely someone else had nothing better to do on weekends and went to every single home game! ?

I saw the email a day too late! Doh!

Massive chance for JKH to miraculously get a spot in a finals side after looking gone all year. Let's back him in!

Bugg should be playing not the spud

Would have been good for Hannan to have another run before finals and add to last weeks effort.

JKH to break the corralling stat record.

Perfect chance go's begging to see what Bugg could produce late in the season.

JKH provides defensive run? Oh well he's in let's hope he plays out of his skin.

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

  • POSTGAME: Essendon

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

  • GAMEDAY: Essendon

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
