Like some others, I have been 'flat' all week.  We'll probably know after the first 10 minutes if the players feel the same way, and if they do, it's probably 'goodnight nurse' for 2018.  However, if we come out firing, I think we'll go on with it, and come away with a nice win to rekindle our hopes for September action.  I hope we can do it  ........ No .......  I'm bordering on believing we can do it!  Go Dees!

If we don't get off to a shocker, I'm actually quite confident we can give them a real game. We are a high scoring team and the Eagles will struggle to kick a big score with this makeshift team of theirs. Imo of course.

If we don't make finals you can all blame me. After a salubriously delicious long lunch and many frothies one Saturday a few months back I booked a finals package including the GF. Since then we have had a bad run in form and injuries. ( I actually do feel responsible!)

It's not jack watts at all!

Does anyone know what jumper we will wear?

I know that West coasts main home jumper is quite a similar blue to our away strip

Might West coast go with their predominantly yellow away strip and we go with normal home darker jumper?

Would be cool to play in our Indigenous jumper again. I remember hearing we'd play in it again but maybe that was the Darwin game.

Can we please study the Bombers' game vs the Eagles (what was it, 50-1 at one point?) and just copy them

It was load the backline and sprint forward after a turnover.

Mate, I can't go into the weekend thinking any different.  I've got to back the Dees to get it done!

I suspect the stars will align and am planning the options for week 1 finals attendance. Likely to be Dees Vs either Swans in Sydney or Hawks at the G. Champion Data also forecast, and have included loss of Hogan etc.

Although round 23 last year hurts, I firmly believe the Crows tanked by resting players and shut up shop - nothing to lose by trying too hard in Perth. Hence their karma this year too?

The opposite is true for the Bombers next week against Port. Port are shot and the bombers have a lot to prove, including players playing for their careers. So the circumstance are very different.

We just need the Tiges to get the job done tomorrow night first.

Why would they be saying Monday?

To be frank I think they're going to give us a good old fashion football lesson. I think the pressure and skepticism is too much for this team. They looked mentally drained after the weekend.

Happy to be proven wrong.

No confidence from me, they’ve broken our hearts too many times for me to really and truly believe. I keep waiting for it all to click together, I honestly feel like we have the pieces of the puzzle there for us, but still waiting for it to actually all happen.

I’m picturing another tight loss, WC will probably be gifted 3-4 goals from free kicks.

I will say this, despite losing Hogan I feel we have a stronger line up than last week.

Prove me wrong Dees!

For what it worth I was at the Port v Eagles game. Whilst Eagles won my view is Port were very poor. The out for Eagles are massive whilst our are severe but coverable if players have belief and utilize Gawn domination around the ground. The key to me is can the Dees improve their forward entry play. If they bomb the ball like last week Barass and McGovern will have a field day and we will lose. If they play smart and to their capability they can definitely win. Eagles are very beatable without Nic Nat, Gaff and Kennedy.

Yeah in my mind's eye I see a real gallant performance but falling short because it's a bridge too far. Then a whole lot of opposition people saying that we did well to rally them and that we should be proud and me having to tell them any less than a win didn't cut it.

It's a big task

This has been our problem all year against the better teams, against Geelong in the last game we lost with a kick after the siren with the ball in our forward 50. Smart teams don’t allow that to happen.

We have had midfield/forward entry dominance in many of our losses but failed to use them intelligently, instead bombing long and indiscriminate.

Sydney used their brains last week against us utilising the width of the G and at times passing the ball around with ease. I’m a Goodwin fan but there are times where you have to question either A) is he giving the players poor instructions or B) are the messages just not getting through?

Just guessing we'll wear

the navy blue jumper with the red back, white shorts and red socks

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
