I’m no apologist. Just don’t rant at a young team and dump years of disappointment on them. We made some stupid mistakes but literally everything went right for Geelong in the last right down to Max’s blood rule. We’ll win the 4 of the last 5 and pump the Cats in the first week of the finals. It’s all set up now.

Also anyone want to have a go at Hogan?. I will. His efforts up front were absolute crap. He just wandered around like a lost sheep. Did not impact the game at all with his body. Next to no tackles and one handed grabs at the ball. Also hardly any chasing when Cats got the ball. Pretty ordinary effort in my opinion. 

yes agree on Hogan, he is certainly not a chaser, we will get found out by better teams who will have whoever is on Hogan running down the ground creating a free man as hogan trots after.

But the Sydney game today is one example of how anything can happen in the league this year.  Outside of playing Carlton, you can lose a game of footy if you switch off for long enough.  We are still in the eight and we still have time to put together some notable wins that can propel us towards finals footy.

We still have our fate in our own hands which is certainly good. We can’t be trusted though, which is bad and is what makes it so excruciating for supporters.

That, and the fact that we have let slip several opportunities to be a contender, not just support cast. 2018 could have been our turn for a fairytale. Now we’re hoping to cling to a spot in the 8 at best (please don’t reference the dogs coming from 7th lol)

I read those quotes too, and it seems as though he's not happy with the way we played for periods of the game.  

The clock management is the one that sticks out for me.  The players shouldn't need to be told, in that situation, to run down the clock or to look for the chip kick.  It should be common sense.

But from what I can tell I'd wager that Goody would have given them a fair pasting after the game.

He only coaches half the ground. The back half is just a junk shop. 

There was NO SYSTEM in that last quarter. 

Yes the effort was there at the end. But the defence was still totally exposed. 

Malcolm Blight coached Geelong the same way in the late 80’s

I think the better way to say this is that our best football is in the top 3-4 clubs' best.

But if we keep losing these games, I don't think we can say we are one of the best three or four teams. The best teams don't continually lose these games.

I've been watching over and over again.

I didn't mind Petracca's barrel. It wasn't clear that he had any easy sideways/backwards kicks to eat up time, plus there was still 1.40 left. It was to the boundary so it was the right option if he didn't have a short easy kick.

Frost's mark was great but the kick appalling. JKH's miss was just terrible and reeked to me of panic (a better player would have been a lot calmer with that shot).

Then Frost isn't just ball-watching, he runs to chase after the wrong player. The kick comes out and he leaves Hawkins to run to the wing where Jones was already running, leaving Hawkins to make space through the middle.

Our high forward press isn't conducive to protecting small leads, though. Only takes one mistake from us and we gift our opponent a score. We should instead have had the press dropped further back - concede the space across our HF line to clog it up closer to Geelong's goal.

Edit: Brayshaw also mis-kicks it to JKH when he had Melksham on. JKH should have kicked it, though.

We lost clearances 44 35, and stoppages 31 20. Hard to win when that's going on.

I accept that Lever and Hibberd are big omissions, but Viney out is really hurting us.

I think what those losses (Saints, Cats x2, Port etc.) shows me is that we're not a serious premiership contender yet.  I think we can make finals, but going by tonight you would expect us to go out in straight sets.  

I think making the finals would be a big hurdle for this club to jump, but as you say, right now they give us no reason to trust them or have faith in them.  Even I'm finding it difficult.

But I'll cling to the fact that we're still in the 8 and still in a position to decide our own destiny.  I just hope we can do it.

At half time in the game day thread I wrote that it had a feel about it similar to many of those games that we had the edge in and lost. The port game. I even referenced a game from [censored] 16 years ago where Farmer killed us on the siren at Subi. Seriously enough is enough. I and many others are completely at their wits end with this kind of thing happening over and over again. It's been 12 years and this Mt Everest of a task that teams seemingly make year after year of making the finals is getting beyond a joke.

Melbourne, you will always find the way won't you? You won't snatch it from St Kilda but you'll always find the way when it matters most. I haven't given up hope. Mate, when you're out of it for 12 years you'll take what chance you can get buf I can not back this team to deliver the goods when it counts.

I am sorry, I know a lot of you have other things in life aside from football like your families and partners. I'm in my early 30s, single and put a lot of my energy into this football club. It really damn hurts just that bit more when you feel you have little else. Criticise me if you want I don't give a toss right now.

So according to Roos' KPI if we miss finals we fail. I'll reckon that's the clubs KPI too. Wonder what the fallout will be if we miss? I'm unconvinced by our application and desire and some FD decisions including selection and MD coachjjng
