That my friends was season 2018

For as bad as I feel, this is a silly comment.  We're still in sixth.  While the loss was shattering, we played out of our skin for three quarters at one of the hardest away grounds to play on in the competition.

Finals is still well and truly alive.

McDonald kicked 4 Ffs

Hawkins kicked 7!

They kicked 8 in that quarter. We had a big lead going into the last.

We needed to defend more than attack.

It was a BAD move to leave Omac on Hawkins. Even Frost was better, but it was too late.

We just gifted Sydney, GWS, Adelaide, Hawthorn and Port all a clear path to the top 8.

We forfeited our top 4 credentials.

We BUCKLED under pressure and folded.

We are an average, average football club.

It hurts. Some huge lessons required.

You don't give up a six goal lead.

Smith not killing the pill.

Midfield stopped half way through.

Terrible miss by JKH in last. Simple snap from 25.

Oscar was pathetic for much of the night.

How many games can you lose with 60+ inside 50's?

Good question.

We have been wasting inside 50s all season, and nothings been done about it.

[censored] coaching.

That was.... unfathomable

Goodwin has the arsenal, he is a stubborn and dangerous coach. Pathetic coaching effort and team selection. I feel very sorry for those guys in the red&blue who worked hard, effectively and continuously yet let down by the coach and his big ideas. He can regard himself as warned.

Five goals up, we needed this win badly and lost.

Not worthy of finals let alone top 4

Just imagining Goodies press conference “Yeah the boys learned a lot tonight. So many good lessons. We’re on a journey. Set our own history.I though they were super in the last.”

Every Demon supporter “Shut why [censored] up and just get the [censored] job done!” (Thinking “Wish I followed any other team”)

Every bloody time we play them hawkins cuts us up. Hope this sticks in there guts for a long time.

Thanks for ruining my birthday

Frost actually got within a few metres of Hawkins while O. McDonald wasn’t in the same postcode.

He can go as well.

We still need to make up the Saints game, which means beating three of Adelaide, Sydney, GWS and West Coast. That's provided we beat Gold Coast.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

The media focus on the fiery interaction between Max Gawn and Steven May at the end of the game was unfortunate because it took away the gloss from Melbourne’s performance in winning almost everywhere but on the scoreboard in its Kings Birthday clash with Collingwood at the MCG. It was a real battle reminiscent of the good old days when the rivalry between the two clubs was at its height and a fitting contest to celebrate the 2025 Australian of the Year, Neale Daniher and his superb work to bring the campaign to raise funds for motor neurone disease awareness to the forefront. Notwithstanding the fact that the Magpies snatched a one point victory from his old club, Daniher would be proud of the fact that his Demons fought tooth and nail to win the keenly contested game in front of 77,761 fans.

  • POSTGAME: Collingwood

Despite effectively playing against four extra opponents, the Dees controlled much of the match. However, their inaccuracy in front of goal and inability to convert dominance in clearances and inside 50s ultimately cost them dearly, falling to a heartbreaking one-point loss on King’s Birthday.
