I remember seeing similar footage back in the late 90's  we only ran one way. I thought Roosey had beaten it out of us, perhaps Goody been too nice, I like angry Goody let's see what happens at selection. Bring in the Ninger

I think people might be overestimating the motivating powers of ‘pain’ and ‘hurt’.

Look to Adelaide this season to see how a hurt club performs... then cast your mind back to Geelong, Hawthorn, Bulldogs and Tigers and recall that they they were motivated by positivity and unity in their successful years.

Good point. And when we were flying that was at the base of it. However...adversity can also bring unity.  Identifying bad habits and moving on them collectively can bring positivity. I was pleased to hear goody lost his sh@t tbh. This season and  his coaching credentials are  right on a knifes edge

Some of the footage was just so damning ....and Lewis was at the centre of a lot of it. He gets one one more chance to continue his career imo. His sloppy , turnover kicking and lack lustre defending makes me wonder if he cares enough about us. If he does I want to see it!

Just about to start here in Perf.

Will report if he says anything new or different.

Of course what Lewis said is merely 'talk', and needs to be backed up in Darwin ........ that's just stating the bleeding obvious!  But is there anything else people would have had him say to make them feel better?  I found it somewhat reassuring.

I pretty much have to be honest Dr.

It's not that I've lost faith in the team, but more just that I give so much more credence to what happens on the park than any of this talk as you put it.  When we were flying, I thought it was overhyped  (though it was still nice to hear goof things about our team for a while) and now that we've lost a few on the trot, my veiw is that the doom and gloom is also way over the top.

Still alot of season left to see if the team can really progress from last season.  For the most of the first half, I thought we did generally progress with our ability to put away all the he poor the heads we should beat and also to really smash teams once we got on top.  The challenge and area that I'd like to see improvement in the second half of the season is the season is to win enough games to position ourselves for finals, but also build form as theheeamshatheohe rest of the season plays out, not tire and drop our bundle like we did last year.

Ninger??

Is it just possible that instead of the company line...instead of plattitudes...instead of just seeming XY or Z ...a player might just say...

"You know words are empty...they are just vacuous packaging of a box full of ( insert word of choice ) ...even these are trite....we just have to play footy...and do it better"

I feel relieved in a way that Goody got angry, I think he’s been giving them a bit of free reign, I reckon they’ll definitely defend this week! Also good pickup in his presser on Sunday, as he said with a smile, we’ll see some changes defensively. What’s Freo paying to score under 50?! ?

But yes talk is cheap, we want results, I’m now excited for the first time this week for this weekends game.

Am I drinking the clubs bath water, again?

Goodwin feeling angry and frustrated wasn’t only post match. Lewis stated we weren’t playing how we wanted to play, hence Goodwin’s frustration throughout the game. Lewis also said we had 3-4 players that he felt were playing they way we wanted to play.

To me it sounds like Goodwin tried to convey a message at quarter time, half time and three quarter time and it obviously didn’t get through to the players for one reason or another.

You simply can’t eject someone that’s not pulling their weight on game day. We await selection with great interest.

At least Lewis didn't reference bathwater or fugazi....

I'm glad he came out and said exactly what he should have. No nonsense and factual about where we are at.

Wholesale changes await. If there isn’t then there is something wrong. A message needs to finally be sent, to get things right before it’s too late...

Then, instead of meaningless words, everyone complains about Misson's highly significant facial expressions.

Sheesh what a load of jibberish.

I swear it made perfectly good nonsense before auto uncorrected had it's way with it.

It starts at the top. Glad to hear Goody gave it to them, hopefully the leadership group got an extra serving.

Ive no5 watched 360 this week and prob won’t bother tonight either. TBH I highly doubt I’ll watch the game on Saturday, got other things on and will concentrate on them and just check scores from time to time.

That's a bad sign for the club - disengagement

Will be interesting to see how we play over the next few weeks off the back of this.

These are must wins to play finals, and will importantly show how well Goodwin can manage his team, and how the leadership group and players execute it on game day.

Hoping for a couple of team changes and some big results. Bring in the Frost.

Go dees.

But Whately and Robbo were contained within the studio the whole time, so, in an actions over words sense,  Lewis demonstrated that he's capable of guarding the exits.

Reading between the lines, the players realise their mistakes and we will not drop a game for the remainder of the year... just can’t think which Dees player will be on stage with the pre match entertainment after we have lifted the premiership cup.

Like others, media talk is a big yawn.

Just talk only talk. Of course, Lewis has to say something and this is sending the right message to fans but I suspect most fans turned off long ago.

Actions speak louder than words and I am afraid we have heard it all before time and time again. Like a broken record.  We all hear the words and rock up to the next game to see that nothing has changed.

FFS.

What exactly do you expect of him? He was asked the question, he answered it, and thankfully enough he answered it honestly.

Do you think anyone in the club genuinely believes that by saying things, they happen, without having to actually do something about it?

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
