Agree with the majority - Pedersen and Smith for Smith and Lever.

With Stretch as the emergency, Garlett for Hannan if he doesn't get up.

In two minds about Stretch. Has talent no doubt but seems like your standard "good VFL player" for mine. Pedo is clearly a league above at that level, Stretch gets the job done but I don't think he's AFL quality.

Not related directly to the match preview - club website says:

Advice for train travellers: Buses will replace trains between Flinders Street and Westall stations on the Cranbourne and Pakenham line. Buses will replace trains between Flinders Street and Moorabbin stations on the Frankston line.

The Metro Trains website says the buses could add up to 75 minutes to travel time.  http://www.metrotrains.com.au/planned-work/buses-pakenham-and-cranbourne-29-may-to-17-june/

If on those lines, look for options or leave early.

Happy that Melksham is named in the starting 18, big in.

i reckon the bench is Nibbler, J Smith, Pedo and Garlett (for Hannan, inj)

Didnt Pedders get knocked out at the end of the VFL game?

Thats a fair recovery if so.

Must commend him.

Pedo and stretch for mine, think hibberd will play levers role and a runner will come in to play the role hibberd was playing

Pedersen will play forward and Stretch isn't a defender.

Under your scenario the inclusion would be Hunt.

I Think mmm...... J Smith, Garlett and Hunt will come in, for Lever, Hannan and Bull.

I can't believe it Pedo's going to get a game, I thought his career in the seniors was over.

I'd prefer J.Smith over Petty to replace Lever.

Garlett only comes in if Hannan isn't right.

Think this may be correct, SBF, you nailed it:

  • ANB for run, aggro and linkages;
  • Pedo into this awesome forward line, ruck reliever for Max's hand which will be sore after smacking Grundy in the mouth;
  • JSmith into CHB, or bckpkt match-up, with HIbberd going into CHB, as an aggro bs/tard;
  • Garlett to tickle Lynden's funny bone.

Gosh, Golly, it is good to see Pedo in the side: I have counted three goals, already.

If Stretch is a better bet than Hunt or Garlett then I'll eat my hat!

Spargo has been named in the starting 18 so he won't be dropped.  Hannan is the one who might make way for Jeffy if he isn't right to play.

I was just continuing the tradition of suggesting he needs to be rested.

WTF this repeated talk of resting Spartacus??

We have a bye to follow.

Very exciting Monday ahead - two in form teams with two dominant ruckmen and plenty of other captivating match-ups.

They have more pace, we have more precision.

You would have to think Smith's omission came partly about because Cox can be damaging as the back-up and logic says Pedo is better insurance, both against Cox and also if O-Mac gets hurt or Mihocek carves up Joel Smith and we have to send someone back.

I reckon you'd have to go Joel Smith first before Petty but I may be wrong on this - but Casey reports suggested Petty was quiet last week. There is also a case for Hunt to get a gig before Joel Smith, but I suspect that would mean more of a mismatch on Mihocek, although Hunt's pace on Stephenson would be useful.

If Hannan is out (as mooted by some), then don't be surprised if Hunt comes in as it gives Goody more options down back if their pace exposes us.

Obviously with zones and switches these match-up will rotate a bit, but I can see the following happening:

Jetta - Stephenson

Oscar - Cox

Vince - the Hyphen

Joel Smith - Mihocek

Hibberd - De Goey

Salem - Thomas

Jordy - Wells/Mayne
