It’s a shame this milestone game didn’t fall a week later on a home game, QB, 70,000+

He absolutely deserves the biggest spotlight shone on him for all his efforts over the last 10 years.

These are the type of games we have dropped in the past. 250 games for a club champion, 5 wins on the trot and up against a team that's shockingly out of form.

Need to do this for Chunk. Need to take another team to the slaughter. Need to keep boosting that %.

There can be only one outcome next weekend that will do our skipper justice.

Another 15 goal demolition should suffice.

Some say we should have trade him year ago, he is a gun, if he played at collingwood he would be seen a one of the greats.

He should be rested this week

Despite the recent form of both sides, with us having the 6 day break off the Alice Springs game  and the Dogs having an 8 day break playing their last game in Melbourne, we will have to be at our best to run it out.

I wonder if they will look at fresh legs.

After this game we have 9 days to the Pies.

And he still wouldn’t have played in a final.

Bloody star -    the boys have to get over the line for Chunk in this one.

Demonland has become a bit too self-congratulatory with an overweening sense of bonhomie. Not a controversy to be spotted, unlike the End of Days stuff parlayed about after the cats and bird triple failure when one could variously encounter a call for heads to be put on pikes followed by the spotting of some readying a firing squad.

Nope, a loss this week might bring about some welcome respite from the friendliness and joie de football which is very un-MFC like.

I joke, I joke.

Agreed. That final Quarter would have been a real slog to play.

The dogs are not what they were, but they are still quick

The ultimate professional through a 10 year period where we have had so many flaky players and unfulfilled talents, no one deserves some good times more than Jonesy....how many different coaches would he have played under?

Maybe he should be “managed”? ?

But seriously he more than most (Robbie Flower and Bob Skelton maybe exceptions) deserves to taste success.

I still remember watching him burn the field at Sandringham earning his promotion.  What a hard nut.

Hopefully that was “the old Melbourne”

The new one I have watched the past five rounds shouldn’t allow such things to occur.

Yes  I have definitely noticed

He has carried the team on his own back for  12 years

Now we are seeing the real player

Fantastic

His connection with Gawny has been lovely to see this year.

On a par with Tulip but precious little sympathy for Bob Skelton.  Given that he was a kiwi.  And a jockey.

Was luck enough to meet him last night at the airport and he seriously a nice bloke, lucky to have him as a leader.

Humble is the word that comes to mind.

The guy has given everything to the club and through tough times has always left everything out on the field.

I know lots of Dees fans hate Etihad but no excuses, pack the stadium to show your support for one of the most loyal blokes to ever don the red and blue.

Continues to perform with almost unparralled consistency and would again not be out of place in an All Australian discussion. The bloke is a star and I can’t wait to see him in September. Try winning a contest against someone whose waited as long as he has for the opportunity.

I noticed on the weekend many of our players were bursting from packs, evading tacklers and holding onto the ball until the right option presented itself. Nath Jones used to be the only one who did this. I wonder if its Jones rubbing off on the younger brigade, or a clear direction from the club to have players do it. Whatever the case its impressive. Jones leads through his actions and others learn.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • GAMEDAY: West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?
