I could see Fritsch and spargo being rested at stages soon.

Hunt Balic and Garlett most likey to replace the younger blokes

Would love to watch the ginga ninja get a game

Hopefully this week, a quick freshen up, Pre QB.

Despite the talk about resting players, just can't see how you can make any changes to this winning side.

Individually and collectively they are on fire. Not a bad player. Any changes can only be for soreness or injury.

Gee, there are going to be a lot of impatient guys at Casey who must be wondering if they will ever get a look in.

How do you keep them happy and motivated?

Knowing that if they're playing well at Casey they will get their chance. There's bound to be injuries or loss of form.

Hawthorn, Geelong and other 'successful' teams seem to be able to keep 'fringe' players. Part of a successful club culture I guess.

I agree, and it's in line with what Macca told Hunt 2 weeks back. Even the supposed intensive training run that Hunt and Pedo were put through during Sunday's game may have been an indicator.

Having said that, any player rested would be fearful of getting back into the 22. BTW keep an eye on Lewis on Saturday. At Etihad he tends to direct traffic from the mid-field when playing, as well as coaching when on the bench ie more so than usual.

"The intensive training" is all about the workload. Not an indicator that you are going to play. Remember when we had the substitute rule. You would often hear of the sub running 50 laps after games end to make up for the missed game time.

Dont get me wrong im fully aware of that.

It will depend on loads and none of us know when that will be.

I hope they continue to play all year but dont be surprised when they get restes was my point

No one thinks Jones may be a "mystery injury" this week so that he can celebrate his 250th on the big stage at the 'G'?

Oh no. It is an away game and coz it's joneses 250th I bought a ticket. Will not be happy if that is the case.

This is gonna be a sneaky big crowd. There's literally never been this much good favour amongst demons supporters in my lifetime, outside of 2000, where we snuck up on the comp. Dogs will at least benefit in terms of the gate.

Got my tickets, MFC end behind point post, me and my son. Bloody hell MCG is cheaper! Can you see the Medallion club fights from behind the goals? Just askin.

Anyway. This reminds me of early 90’s. Just so exciting. But I really think they might be better than that team. Next 2weeks will help us decide. If we can beat Dogs AND the evil monochrome’s .... we are the real deal and I WILL believe !

We won the last 5 games, we were on a roll, we were the second best side in the comp come finals and we were brutalised by Essendon in the GF. I will never forgive EFC for the way they went about winning that day it was brutal.

25K tops.

Dogs fans won't bother and we'll get more MFC fans than usual, but we still don't 'travel' to Etihad.

would be disappointing to get that number. Dogs fans are relatively rusted on (like us they've had to be over the years) so I think closer to 30k.

Would disgust me if 40,000 are not there, being Jones 250th, any Demon supporter who can, should be going, regardless about their opinion of Docklands

Went down to training and as there isn't a training post and I'm not big enough to start a thread I'll post here.

So the first thing to tell is that Tom trained the whole session and pulled up well. Yay! Weid was back on track and looked terrific, he looks better each time I see him and may come back into the side in the next week or after the bye. But not this week. Smith deserves his spot and chance to cement his position. There will most likely be no change.

The give away is when they split up for a small part of the session and the VFL boys do a bit by themselves. It was the same groups so most likely no change.

Geez our depth is good. Only Kent, Vanders and King missing I think, so Filipovic doing lots of ruck work and at least 5 in the seconds who would walk into at least half a dozen AFL sides.

Tom and Hoges doing lots of marking practice together, they are really forming a great combo.

I'm not sure what other teams train for but the whole session was about getting the ball clear of congestion and moving it quickly forward, kicking on both sides, marking the ball and kicking goals. Sounds very simple but we are the number 1 team at all those things at the moment.

Lastly as a very damaged Melbourne supporter whos moods swing from wild optimism to down in the dumps pessimism, when we are in the rare bubble of success like we are at the moment I always tend to have one eye looking for the impending crash back to reality and I saw no signs today. So keep going you good things.

I really like the Weid, but he has to (and will) return via Casey, need a lot more credits in the bank before he would come straight back into the team

I asked him,  back via Casey

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
