Viney is back and demonland is no longer down.  This truly is a good day

Weather update in Melbourne?

50 point win today... hope it is stress free.

May be the only big win we get for a few weeks so I look forward to enjoying it

Can't get to this one; v disappointed.  Go JV and Da Boys.  Play like your spot depends on it.

We win the ones we should these days,  so expecting that we control most of  the game today.

Overcast and cool.  16 degish

I hate Carlton.  The Curnow boys missing is huge though, and takes out their second best mid and their best forward to this point of the year.

They'll be up and about early, especially after their win last week, so it's up to us to weather the early storm and play the game on our terms.  Do that and we win comfortably.

Just arrived and a light drizzle at the moment. More showers forecast for the arvo.

Crowd building.... maybe a 1000 ????

He just handballs around anyway.....

I'm glad Viney is playing. I finally get to wear my creepy hunchback Viney socks

Demons by 10 goals plus.

Should be a totally one sided match. Viney back and the reserves putting heaps of pressure on the boys to perform, coupled with Carltanks outs have me supremely confident.

No nerves at all this week, just like last week.

:)

Wet. Slippery. Messy football kind of day. I'm not used to this "expecting to win" thing...

why am i always a nervous wreck before the games now that there's an expectation that we will win?

life was much easier when we were in the doldrums

I’ve noticed the same thing. The expectation pre-match makes me feel sick, but I embrace it. It’s still better than that overarching sense of impending doom.

I also found it really difficult watching to the end of the Hawks and Tiges games when we were playing poo. In the past I’d always watched to the end looking for some morsel of things to take out of the game, but when you know one or two minor acts aren’t going to cut for taking the edge off the smashing, that was really hard to take.

Dees to destroy, Hawks to faulter - 4th spot & world peace across tomorrows newstands

must win by at least ten goals to really prove a point and then be confident against a weaken crows mob next week

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

Despite a spirited third quarter surge, the Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, remaining winless and second last on the ladder after a 39-point defeat to Essendon at Adelaide Oval in Gather Round.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
