Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That's a bit weak.  It wasn't excessive, it was plain wrong.  Excessive implies there was something in it.

Funnily enough, I thought the use of the word "excessive" was deliberate. Basically saying those commentators were guilty of hyperbole, that is, the commentary equivalent of staging.

It beggars belief that it's just been glossed over. As you correctly identify it's a very dangerous thing to do. The AFL and media lapdogs at their 'finest'. ?

Yeah well thats what gets me BB....ok there wasnt a big force behind the strike, but there doesnt need to be. In fact you can easily kill somebody without any trouble break a windpipe etc....

I thought players were supposed to be role models in a sense and not cross that line. This is about education for young players and schoolkids etc. Should have been cited immediately and singled out.

Has Jessie refused interviews, dc?  Maybe the club (rightly) protected his privacy a bit last year and kept him away from the media and he is known to be very private.

But gee, if media folk can't tell the difference between a private person and a difficult person then they are lower and dumber than I thought they were.

I'm just glad we have Lewis and Gawn (our two vice captains) with regular media gigs who can speak up on mfc matters.  Helps balance the scales a little bit.

i don't know if he does, lucy, but i was just making the general point of how much the sports media need the players and access to them. blowing up trivial matters, telling a player he should be ashamed etc etc on flimsy evidence when it is mostly unnecessary does them no good in the long term. there have been a number of star players who have/had a black-list of media people they don't talk to. and even if they do talk to certain reporters they give them nothing. not a good move by a reporter in such a competitive industry to get too personal about players unless they are on very very safe ground

Also there was absolutely no need for this kind of thing... It wasnt in general play with one player 'rough-housing'.  It was a malicious assault.

Push someone over...yeah.. whatever...

Striking intentionally at the throat ??

Someone touches an ump ( hardly confronting...but yes ..a no -no ...but hardly....ooooooh...end of world...

Chop to the throat.... nothing

Smack to the head......nothing

Response from AFL....crickets !!!

Absolutely pathetic as others rightly point out.

Speaking of the pathetic media,  here is private citizen and recovering addict Ben Cousins being accosted today out the front of his home for no reason at all by the parasites at Channel 9.

They should be arrested for crap like this.

Early stages of the third. From memory, right after Membrey took a mark on Jetta near the goal square.

Edit: Apologies for jumping in, just realised you were quoting another member.

Forget the Hype,

The greatest mistake was Jesse's smart arse Aloof shot at goal from the free kick!

Should have gone with set shot routine, rather than fancy around the corner extravagant efforts!

I don't have to remind anyone that we missed out on finals by barest of margins!

So lets get serious and nail those goals!

Fancy and extravagant... is this 1969? It’s a basic skill that anyone could execute from the time they pick up a footy. He was just as likely to miss a drop punt. [censored] happens.

I disagree. Running straight at the goals and kicking a drop punt from that distance and that angle would be much more likely to be accurate than a round-the-corner attempt.

The bloke was probably trying to see through the red mist, having just been grabbed by the throat. It didn’t look to me to be a shot from someone relaxed and thinking through the shot.

Any excuse to bag him though eh?

You taking the Michael surely.

He, whilst obviously a little rattled , had got back to his feet...hand presence of mind for a little bro tapwith Tommy.. swaggers past idiot Carlisle...and lairises with a silly inappropriate kick.

You know.. some things just are.. and he stuffed up.  That was a monty 7 days a week.

There's two aspects to the event, Carlisle's dog act.....and Jesse kicking like one

that comparison depends totally on the player

but on the average i'd say not much difference between the 2 options

Happy that Patton/Watson/McCartin/Boyd are in the spotlight ATM, feels like the focus has moved away from Jesse, thankfully, the incident is now firmly in the rearview. Jesse I think has really earn't some pats on the back for dealing with all the grief thrown at him and also his body language on the field has also improved out of sight. I seriously wouldn't swap him for any of these other 4.

Timely reminder, well done. Every goal counts after last season.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
