Even with JV and Tmac out there's still a huge amount of arm-chair selection pressure. Our club is in a pretty good place as a reflection of such. But I'm confused - we have eight named on the bench with three to be omitted? Did I miss something re. interchange numbers?

The number of emergencies has increased to 4 this season.

If the rain looks like holding off I think we have to play Frost, who can replace an injured tall if necessary. He also has pace which can help.

I am surprised Stretch is not on the bench as he actually played well in the JLT.

He and Hannan could be the unlucky ones.

I didn't think Stretch was that impressive in JLT. He got a few touches here and there but just a link in the chain type of player at the moment. If he's going to be that he needs to get 25-30 touches not 15-20.

Shaping up as one of those season defining games...

A few months ago most of us would have written the Dees off in this one but not now.

Bit worried that we are all suffering from PSO (pre season optimism) but go Dees.

Fritsch's marking ability is first class ... will be interesting to see how Geelong man up on him

Melksham and Tyson are definite ins from that bench, and with no Viney I think we'd be silly to leave Brayshaw out.

It's meant to be a little wet on Sunday, so I would say Hannan gets the last spot ahead of Frost. We really need some pace to push Geelong.

If I was judging the teams purely on the extended bench I'd say our depth is vastly superior.

I think it will be Brayshaw, Melksham and Hannan.

Toss up between Tyson and Maynard.

No chance Tyson misses out, unless he is battling fitness.

With no Viney, he has to play. Hell even with Viney he is best 22.

Seems to me that Melksham (forward) Tyson (mid) are certainties to play and I can’t see why Brayshaw (Back) would miss if you take the longer view that this is his year to find some consistency and that leaves another spot for a mid and its probably between Hannan and Maynard. I would think it’s Maynard to give us strength against Selwood and Ablett rather than the pace of Hannan. Pity about Frosty I like his manic cowboy style...

As stated by quite a few on DL, if it rains on Sunday, go for Brayshaw over Frost. If no rain, go for Frosty to streak the half-back flank.

I think you've nailed it grey wolf - very lucidly too i must say. Agree with all your comments, particularly those about Tyson, Melk and Brayshaw. They are locks.

I think Goody likes maynards'grunt and in some ways i see him as Viney's placeholder. The one comment i'd make is that Goody also really likes how Bugg goes about things so feel as if it is him or Hannan (who Goody also really likes - as do i)

Geelong have confirmed they will play 3 debutants

I detect an element of complacency in that, as it means some old hands (Murdoch, Guthrie, Constable will miss out).  Its a big call especially with Danger out.

Scott underestimates us - at his peril!

Maybe or they are looking long term and not fussed if they win round 1

Goes completely against getting Ablett if they are looking long term.

They are backing themselves to win a flag. It's their last chance before they lose the last of their stars.

Geelong are the preliminary finalist from last year, Ablett in Danger out... reckon we’re (and the odds) getting way ahead of ourselves if we think we’re actualy more likely to win this game.

Our last performance in a real AFL season game was kind of disappointing if I recall correctly...

sorry to be the wet blanket.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
