Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think the blueprint is pretty obvious. Goody clearly loves a a dynamic and versatile team and Wagner's inclusion is evidence of that.

Wagner allows us to play all of Hunt, Jones, Vince and Lewis in a variety of roles which will hopefully work in our favour. Tyson cannot play any position other than inside mid and his inclusion restricts Goody's creativity.

Maynard is the interesting one for me, because similarly to Tyson I see him being fairly one-dimensional. But maybe Goody and co have some ideas of roles come game day.

All-in-all it's a fairly strong side all over the ground, unlike Geelong's 22.

Yeh it makes perfect sense:

Wagner - Menzel

Lever - Hawkins

Omac- Ratugolea

Get those key Geelong players sorted and we can seriously let rip outta defense. Wagner is a good selection.

I've only read until the end of page 5...

Clearly Vince is tagging either Ablett or Selwood.

We play a 7 man defence, so Wagner comes in to replace Vince from the backline.

Tyson is slightly underdone, so Maynard gets his chance.

Brayshaw is thereabouts, but we all had him on our bench, so it's no huge surprise.  He'll get plenty of games in 2018.

I don't rate Wagner based on what i saw last year. Absolutely shocking turnovers on many occasions and failure to halve contests. That being said the club clearly sees something in him. I guess we'll get a chance to see if they are right.

There must be some underlying fitness concerns here though. I can't see this being their selection if all four were fit.

Yep, agree with many on here and don't like Wagner's inclusion (particularly when the likes of Brayshaw and Tyson are the one's he's keeping out).

Never been a massive fan of his, as he seems to be a bit of a deer in the head lights. The coaching panel must really love his run (of which there isn't a whole heap of). Having said all that, if we get up, he'll probably be the match winner now.

Unless Brayshaw and Tyson are didn’t come up I can’t figure out why 1 or both were not picked, going just off the JLT games, I would have both ahead of Hannan, Maynard and Wagner, they can call play the same roles of mid, general defence or general forward

I saw a player in 2015 who was no good for us and I firmly believe that the earth is flat and that same player is not capable of improving.

Four players from Melbourne’s most recent match for premiership points – its round 23 loss to Collingwood last year – are missing from its season-opener. They are Tom McDonald (foot), Jack Watts (now at Port Adelaide), Brayshaw and Tyson, who are both emergencies.

I didn't see that round 23 loss. So I couldn't tell you who was good who was bad

Could it be that JW was sent packing because of his lack of effort in that game.?

Brayshaw and Tyson may have been dropped for the next game based on their efforts.?

Tommy is injured.!

Have they had a delayed reaction if we had made the finals "They may not have played"

Don't like the bench at all

For mine should have been

Frost Tyson IN  Wagner Maynard OUT

Brayshaw out with Wisdom teeth extraction does not surprise me at all

Some on this site have Lever on Hawkins but that would be a blunder!! Wagner on Hawkins would be Suicide!

Why Frost isn't playing in place of Wagner mystifies me!

Wagner for Gus us just bizarre considering Gus' appetite for the contest. More nervous about this game now.

It's not Wagner for Gus, they play different positions. It's Wagner vs Frost. We have to have at least one on the interchange who plays in the backline, so Wagner it is.

Not sure why it's hard.

Mate players aren't picked on form for a game that was played six months ago..

Not as a link player.  Wagner is far more reliable by foot despite the odd howler.

I am a big Frost fan, Frosty offers more run and is a bigger unit!. And yes Wagners Howlers are shockers!

Brayshaw I can kind of understand. Either teeth (wisdoms can really knock you around), or there's a lingering question over his confidence after all the concussions.

Tyson? Who knows. Either he's still a bit underdone fitness/load-wise, or anyone's guess. Hot spot in a toe?

Wagner over Tyson? Absolutely ridiculous. I was hoping Goodwin would stop playing games at the selection table after he cost us big time in the last month of last season.

Wagner over anyone is ridiculous he is useless. Bugg & Tyson very stiff, so is Brayshaw if it's unrelated to his wisdom teeth.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
