They're trading him because he doesn't fit Goodwin,  he wants tough hard players. If he could have 22 Jack vineys he would be happy .  Do any of think having Todd and Jack there is good?

Now that you have claimed to be acquainted with Jack, and have since raised questions as to Todd and Jack Viney's mutual employment at the club, I'm going to go right on and conclude that these particular feelings have been expressed by Jack.

And while I was ambivalent before - even a tad sad - about Jack's potential departure (while fully supportive and understanding of the reasons for it), if he's blaming white-anting from some Viney faction for where he finds himself today, then he can good and well go.

I'm not even going to bother outlining the contribution of the Viney's toward our singular goal of success as compared to that of one Jack Watts, as the blame being leveled and swipes taken at anyone and everyone who isn't Jack Watts is getting utterly ridiculous.

Don't make assumptions , Jack has never mentioned the Vineys, I personally was asking a question . This is how fiction becomes fact

I arrived at a personal conclusion based on the evidence before me and have not presented it as fact. Your concern about a Viney conflict-of-interest was raised out of left-field directly after your intimate defence of Jack Watts. But I also now find it peculiar that Jack Watts has never mentioned his captain and his player manager as you so claim.

Call bullshyte on that, there is now more reason for Gary Jr to come home, the family needs to be together and he needs to be there for his family

It does not take 9 months for a funeral to be organised, but I take your point in the short term.

The irony of all this is that we are gifting a good player to help Port to finish much higher than us next season and maybe even a premiership. Well done Goodwin. Not!

Rockliff is a good pickup, though his influence in games is negligible despite his gaudy numbers.

Watts and Motlop give them two soft outsiders that wont help them improve.

They arent getting near a  premiership.

I think Goodwin wants 22 players with a competitive edge. That is what the game demands. Look at the last 2 Premiers and their manic pressure. See how Cotchin changed his game and went from good to great. Jack needs to change his game. He has natural talent but at 26, when he should be in the prime of his career, the market for his services is pretty shallow. Why is that?

And no. Having Todd and Jack there does not seem to be a problem. Has not been raised as a problem. You seem to think its a problem.

This is telling. A no 1 draft pick with elite talent and 9 yrs in the system. We are 'giving him away for peanuts' according to the fan boys and girls and the market  for him is shallow at best.....

Unless the club keeps spruiking its typical bs about 'no trade unless we get a good deal' - yep, that'll work, especially after you tell the entire world that he's a soft, culture killer

And yes, I'm a fan boy - got a problem with that?

Don't worry, little Jack hater....he'll get traded today and you can get some sleep

Time for you to pick another target..OMac? Tyson? Lever, after a couple of underwhelming games? Feed, little one, feed...

Im not a Jack hater. I am on record as saying I hope he stays and performs. But its highly unlikely. He is a serial underperformer.

And good for you if you are a fan boy. I hope it gets you to sleep at night holding up Jack Watts poster with one hand.

Pro Dee know him and I know what Melbourne have put up this year is rubbish . To be on honest it's actual lies. So all I can do is leave it there.

This club's statements and approach to this has always concerned me. Elements of it just haven't been sufficiently plausible. Plainly I don't know the truth, but what you've written ticks all the 'likely to be true' buttons for me.

There are a lot of loyal disciples here though, so the club line was always going to attract a fair bit of support.

I guess the rest of us will just have to fall into line. Port will have a bloody good team next year. I hope we get a decent pick and don't have to pay any of his salary.

It's disappointing to see a player who was clearly so emotionally invested in this club, and who shared many of our dreams about success with the MFC, being cut prior to time potentially over issues that would seem remediable.

Its just a real shame Ron that he chose not to be physically invested in the club

I wish him well as all on here do.

I know his career and have watched every one of his 153 games.

And they didn't lie to me.

Quite frankly, that's not the issue.

Watts is one year into a three year contract (which the club didn't sign under duress), and it seems the club has now sought to exit him on 'made up' grounds i.e. they've manufactured events of default.

It seems to me that his performance has been little different to what the club observed in 2016 following which it put a 3 year deal to him, which it is not now wishing to honour.

I see your point Ron

The time to give him a rocket if thought necessary would have been during those contract negotiations.

Maybe he shouldnt have been extended if things were that bad.

I suppose a complicating factor was Roos was a fanboy Goowin was not!

So as soon as Goodwin got the reins Jack was on borrowed time. I am sure Jack knew that all along

Maybe i just wont say it in black and white... somewhat appropriate for a Melb site.

Maybe youre too dim or frankly fn lazy to apply the grey matter

Maybe you take the MFC at face value. More fool you.

There is a Trojan horse. Now run along and pretend youre intelligent.

Is this a secret code? Something to do with Collingwood?

Jack got drunk, crashed a car and lied about it?

Jack wished that he could drown Caroline Wilson on a radio show?

Jack discovered he's Brazilian and wants to change his name to Jabreira Wattango?

So Riewoldt and Watts are as talented as each other with the same predispositions in physicality and courage? With the same god given endurance and marking ability?

@Dr. Gonzo - the difference between a Watts and Riewoldt or a Kennedy and a Viney are intangible and tangible.

The tangible differences between Watts and Riewoldt are so marked and numerous that the difference in intangibles don’t even register. Don’t matter.

The intangibles that Watts didn’t live up to - commitment, application, ‘giving a [censored]’ - only meant he didn’t become a better version of Jack Watts.

Not some delusional fever dream that he shat away the chance for us to have a great of the game play for us.

Had Watts applied himself in the same way Riewoldt did you have not idea how he would have turned out

OK, this has to stop Ron. You're offering nothing new to this thread. All you are now doing is running with an anonymous allegation with no proof from someone who is clearly aggrieved with the club because of their personal connection with Jack. And regular pot shots at those with an alternative view to you who have the audacity to support their club also doesn't paint you in a good light. All of my fears from a week ago are certainly being realized when a good poster like you starts to deliberately post divisive material. We get that it's an emotional game and you love Jack but his defence has stumbled into murky ground.

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo
