Reading that thread is absolute comedy gold.  But hey, there's nothing wrong with laughing at ourselves.  There should be more of it.

The comments about Roos especially - oy vey.

I think I'd rather watch "Hard" Quiz !

or that other bloody ABC left wing Zar-Chasm of Irony... Nutters of Hell, or whatever that is.

I see your point (I think)

That particular poll that I linked highlights one main trait - faith.

But it's all out of our hands in all reality ... we can only really hope that those who do get a say in things actually know what they're doing.

Back on topic ... if we trade Jack,  I hope we get a decent return.  But here's the thing,  if the return is only a late 2nd round draft pick,  who knows what we're going to get?  If he is somehow used in a trade in order for us to acquire a really good player,  then do the trade.

But I could be talking about a number of other players too ... it's quite unfair to single out 1 player in a scapegoating sense.  We've got quite a few very average footballers on the list.  None of them were drafted as the overall no.1 draft pick though.  Thus, the debate.

I bumped into Jack Watts today at the gym  and i asked him directly what is his view on all the talk about him not giving 100 percent and being traded, his reply was....

"When my time on earth is gone, and my activities here are passed, I want they bury me upside down, and my critics can kiss my ass"

I think it's a bit strong to say Jones "threw him under the bus". From what I know, Jones and Watts are good friends, so I doubt he'd intentionally air something that he'd feel that was sort of betraying him.

If you listened to the interview - and you're a regular listen of SEN - you'd know that the person asking Jones the question, and baiting him on it, was Garry Lyon who has probably criticised Watts' intensity at least 100 times since his debut. In fact, although he is a Melbourne supporter, I'd argue that Lyon is Watts' biggest critic in the media circles (but strangely acts all "chummy" whenever he interviews him).

Watts' biggest enemy is perception. As posters have mentioned, he likes to have a good time and enjoys life outside of football. When you're dominating on the field, no one cares all that much what you're doing off the field (to a certain extent). See Dane Swan.

However, when you're on-field performances aren't up to it. It's the easiest and most obvious flaw to point out.

We all love to speculate on Demonland, but the only person who knows the real truth is Jack. If he really feels that his laid-back attitude is just who he is, and he does put 100% into his footy, then there is a clear clash between him and the FD. If Jack feels this way, I have no doubt he would've requested a trade already. However, if he does actually agree that his standards can lift, and his rocket is warranted, then the ball is in Jack's court to prove it that he really does want to get to that next level.

So is this confirmation he's leaving us then?

The last thing we'll see, is his hind Qtrs, I suspect.

And the last thing we hear,  the door close behind?

Was it Watts or Bob Knight? They look similar.

What percent of that 70% are afraid of change and scared to let go? How many are deluded that Watts can still become a star? How many are blinded by the fact he was pick 1 and still value him that highly?

The noisy minority are correct in this poll.

Very illogical comment indeed. You have absolutely no substance for your arguments. Just like me saying they want Watts gone because they hate his guts. In an election those figures would be an absolute landslide. Facts mate, facts.

I guarantee you we won't win a single premiership or final with him in the side. There I said it.

You need 22 players fully committed.

Hard decisions need to be made. If Watts was at the Bulldogs under Bevo I don't think he would hesitate, he has the guts to make the tough calls.

You guarantee it?

Wow.

Talk Talk Talk. I have to admit though, what an eye catching hair-doo. Skip the finals and premierships, get this man into the media.

Jack met with Nathan Buckley today according to Ricky Nixon.

watts and Howe playing top footy at pies would burn at me.

Wow picking up another Pies dud, while our player plays well for them. That would be just fantastic.

PS. Interesting if true, that Bucks is meeting with a contracted player from another club. Hope he is not seeking the breaking of a contract.

PPS. I can see Bucks hiding behind the goal post in that photo above.

theres NO  ONE on that list that might be available  we'd want.. so only leaves picks

Watts and Kennedy for Howe and Dunn.

Pass

Just let the pies have them all. They can be the new Dees

Would readily trade watts and 10 for 6 and 23ish

Which we could then package up.for Lever

That'll do, just fine.

It's all currency, & we can use that currency to paint the rooms with a fresh coat. Something with a little Iron in it, I'd presume.

Lucky I was joking. Swans are chasing a forward, might fit in nicely there.

Let's let them into the 'G'.  They can move into our spot, & into our old pants as well.

While they are moving in, we can slip out and across the road into the Swimming centre. Squatting there, until we make it our own.

But they can keep they're lousy Jail Bars.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
