That's even more fanciful than some of the trades that get mooted here. The Eagles would probably be lucky to get a late 1st round pick for Gaff, more like a pick in the 20s.

Doubt it. They still have a core of top end talent in McGovern, Kennedy, Shuey, NikNat, Yeo and Gaff. They regularly pick up a gun smokey from the draft, and poach WA born players with a go-home factor. Plus, they'll continue to win their share of home games with the umpire bias.

The inclusion of Mitchell this year was actually detrimental to the Eagles. Couldn't play in the same team as Priddis and Masten. The dynamics of the Eagles could improve without Mitchell and Priddis. And NikNat is huge to their success.

Priddis was a good junior and the knock on him was pace and disposal at the nect level. His draft year was around the time clubs moved from taking footballers to taking athletic project types.

He was dominant at WAFL and won state and Premierships standing out as an accumulator. Meth Coast drafted him in 2005  and he struggled to break into their Premiership midfield

However he won the Sandover in 2006 and from 2007 onwards was a mainstay of their midfield.

Wouldn't say he came from nowhere. Always a footballer and a player I really admire for his work ethic and getting the absolute best out of himself

A F's point still stands because Priddis was picked up late in the rookie draft, as was McGovern, and before them Cox.

Unless they're confident of re-signing him next year they'd be pretty stupid to not even entertain possible trades. Pick 8 from Saints is better than any compo they'd get for him if he left as a FA.

I think they are anticipating a rebuild year in the next two years so if Gaff does leave he will get a very good contract and will more than likely end up with 2 top 10 picks in a talented draft. Or Gaff extends so think they will do well either way
