Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Mark Stevens on channel 7  just said that Andrew Gaff will be gettable for the right deal with West Coast looking to rebuild. Said there is interest amongst Victorian clubs.

I say yes please. Exactly the type we need. Outside runner with hardness and great foot skills. GET IT DONE DEES!

I personally don't believe Kent has much trade value but I wonder would we get Gaff if we were to bundle him with Pick 27 this year as well as our 2nd round pick next year?

I believe Gaff fills a critical need. A hard running, hard working Winger who kicks well.

If we can bring Lever & Gaff straight into the 18 for next year, we are significantly improved.

An upgrade on our current outside mids, but can be a downhill skier and the asking price might be too high.

Who else might be into him?

saints, north, pies, hawks - basically anyone looking for an outside runner who gets it 25-30 times a game and uses it well

can we get both he and lever in the same off-season? that would be drool-worthy

I think they'll be asking for a minimum of our first this year or next, and for mine that price is about right. I doubt we'd be able to send a player like Kent and our second to get it done, maybe if Jeffy wanted to get home permanently after the things he had to go back for this year, but only raising him if he wanted to go back.

He was All Australian 2 years ago, and was in the squad last year. Also had the 8th most disposals this year and only Clarry had a higher disposal efficiency in the top 10 but Clarry has nearly 3 handballs for every kick while Gaff kicks far more than he handballs. He'd fix the issue of delivery inside 50 and the transition between our back half and Fwd50. I think he'd suit our needs more than Lever if we could only get 1, dream result would be both but I can't see that happening.

2018 first round pick a tempting offer for Gaff... he's not a contested beast but he has speed and genuine class and he's a beautifully kick. He's he right age and i believe grew up a dees fan for what that's worth

Abe you are on the money. Go to a few eagles games and gaff is not the one ripping open the pack. With Viney and jones etc we don't need that.

Gaff would be a perfect fit. Not sure about pick ten. A coin toss. But if we grab their 2nd round as well , maybe.

I would love to have Gaff, he is a gun. Would certainly prefer him to Lever as I see our midfield as a much bigger problem.

2018 draft is meant to be very strong, so I would be reluctant to trade any future picks. If we need to trade picks, they have to come from 2017.

I've ventured over to the WCE board on BigFooty a few times this season, and many there not the biggest fan of Gaff...

"downhill skiier"

"least damaging 30 possession player I have ever seen"

"doesn't hit the scoreboard enough"

"a bit soft"

When I have actually watched him play (rarely) he seems ok, but these comments are from people who watch him week in, week out so I'd trust their judgement more than mine.

Not sold.

Definitely achievable to land both Gaff and Lever and that would be a fantastic trade period. Two ready-made quality players that fill the two positions currently being held by underachievers. (Tyson and underdeveloped key backs).

Both players are previous high draft picks and are serious quality with Lever being the same age as our core group of young talent which is really important. (Trac, Viney, Brayshaw, Hunt, Weed, Hoges, Oliver and Salem).

So in that regard, I'm not really bothered about first round picks from this year and next year going out. It's more important for us to fill our side with ready made talent now as well as continue to add players in the 21-24 year old age bracket so that they all come through together. That's what will see us stay competitive for longer as a club and give us the best chance at a flag.

I also believe the down hill skier comments are probably a bit misunderstood. West Coast have been perennial strugglers inside the contest for a while due to having so many outside runners. Gaff would benefit hugely from playing in a midfield group that excels at the contest. And on the G, his ability to run both ways can't be underestimated. One of the best gut runners in the league. Whilst his disposal isn't what I'd term damaging, he uses the ball really smartly by both hand and foot. Super smart player.

Might give a 2nd rounder for him.

Just isnt damaging enough , doesnt kick goals, doesn't tackle.  Racks up a lot of cheap ball.  Will that change at Melbourne?

If your'e an outside player who averages 30 touches a game you'd wanna be kicking around 20 goals.

He kicked 6 for the season.

Depends on the game plan...seems Kennedy is the focus.

...as for the downhill skier term, I think that applies to their whole team.

Maybe different if he's away from that environment.

I will trust the football department but one of their non negotiables in bringing in a player is attack on the ball/contest.

I don't always agree with you STMJ but I 100% agree with this comment.

Adding Gaff & Lever would propel us into top 4 calculations for next season without a doubt.

He would be very valuable on a wing at the G.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
